As well as Bendigo on Saturday (see separate thread)
we have Cobram on Sunday
I wonder why they limit their's to a max of 105 NR?
The Trotting Cup has only attracted 6 but it still looks a good field

I reckon Jason Grimson is also a good thing to Quinella the Pacing Cup today

Curly James wins the Cup - his dam is a ¾ sister to Ladies In Red and bred by Anne

Hamilton would be very happy with the quality of the fields for both their Cups on Sunday

Interesting to see Plymouth Chubb now a 4yo, taking on some quality trotters
I am still not sure how I feel about the Pacing Cup being over a short/middle distance
It really makes it a handicap for the better rated horses in this PBD

Trainers would not appear to have supported Shep very well tonight
Half the races only have 5 or 6 runners

What a contrast - last week to this week
Last week's Lead Time was 1.52 pace for the Shep Cup the Lead Time was nearly 2.05 pace

Trotters had better watch out or else they will lose Stand Starts too
All 3 favourites blew the start in the Hamilton Trotting Cup today

It is the St Arnaud cup on Monday
Correction - it is no their Cup but rather the $25k Central Vic Pacing Championship and the $25k Central Vic Trotting Championship
I am going to leave this post here for now
Maybe if I can get myself healthy
It is over 100km away But it is in the same Shire as me (we are The Big Country)

It's good to see that the time honoured Central Vic Championships run as a co-operative between Charlton, Boort, Wedderburn, Maryborough and St Arnaud Clubs, has reverted to its original formaat of heats (two of them) and a final.
The first was won at Echuca in 1960 by Miracle Echo, trained by Ken Wills and driven by former chief steward Rod Osborne.

The trotting version followed 20 years later:

Agree Noel, it's the heats that make it a "championship". Otherwise, it's just another race.

It used to be a "good horse on the way up",race, with 1964-1966 editions won by You Crovottie, Main Pike and Lord Setay
with good trotters Son OF Flair, Mighty Maori and Kimbo winning 3 years in a row for Russell Thompson.

“I’d love to get a few drives, just try to build on my career and get some big drives.”
I reckon the $60k Gp3 Horsham Cup is a pretty big drive/win

What appeared to be a good crowd at Charlton today were treated to One Over All breaking the Tk Rec in the Trotters Cup and Cant Top This equaling the Tk Rec in the Pacing Cup

I noticed a helicopter on course at the Ouyen Cup meeting today, if we are having people fly in - maybe we are on the up (up, up and away)

Local (or near enough) Kerryn Manning won her 5th Ararat Cup tonight in what was an incredible performance by Cant Top This
Kerryn is a superstar but as we have been talking animal welfare of late, I will say that I wish she would take some notice of the 'supposed' whip rules - Kerryn has been fined and maybe suspended for breaking them BUT it has never stopped her from completely ignoring them in a close finish
