Give the bloke a break, the last time I looked we were living in Australia not a South American dictatorship. You, I and everybody else may think they know who has done what, but that doesn't alter the fact that we are still innocent until proven guilty. How many times does it need to be said there is an investigation by the police going on? Their approach is vastly different to what HRNSW can do, and given the potential for criminal charges and use of the State's Criminal jurisdiction, there is absolutely no doubt their (police) investigation should take precedence. Why would anyone want to jeopardise the criminal prosecutions?

Oh, and by the way, how do I know who you claim to be the 'right people' are in fact the right people? That's only your opinion, for all I know some of them may be implicated in this sordid affair! That's the problem when you move away from a structure, thorough and comprehensive investigtion, we may miss some of the culprits and wrong doers, it takes time to do it properly, and if in the mean time some of them are benefitting so what. I'd rather get them than run the risk of having to put up with them in the future!!!!!

The thread starter is an idiot matched only by us who have been stupid enough to respond.

HRNSW and therefore Sam have done an excellent job of not acting too harshly which may have seen an easy way out for the wrong doers.

Sam has done a great job just to get this going and has not taken any easy options. In his past career in the media and his current position at HRNSW, he has displayed one common theme and that's a passion for the sport. Let him run his race at his pace. In time we can judge the result.

How do you define a great job? In terms of passion, commitment etc. then it seems that Sam is high order.
If the cheats have made over half a million dollars since July then maybe he hasn't done a great job.
Maybe Peter Allen is making a valid point?
Harness Racing members get really frustrated when they see a few people getting the lions share of the prizemoney and that trend seems to be continuing.

Thanks Jett, i feel i do have a valid point . Confidence in harness racing is at an all time low .
Punting in harness racing has dropped off alarmingly . Breeding is in disarray with numbers dropping again this year .
Sam to us seems a very nice bloke , but he IS CEO and is ultimately responsible .
I understand that people are upset about the facts expressed in my post but part of my income is being taken from me .
This affects , not only those who miss out on prizemoney , it also affects everyone in the industry right down to the poor sod
who has to prepare his yearling for the sales this year . Im not trying to belittle harness racing . Im just stating facts.

Totally agree with Peter, well said, if the rorts have been going on for 18 mths like hrnsw have said , the honest trainers/drivers/owners have been treated like mushrooms,paying bills supporting the industry that was cheating us. Why let it go on for so long ???

Sam is not a steward so will not make any findings in relation to guilt or if a breach of the rules has occurred, he is a servant of the industry and as such is under an obligation to meet with and discuss issues of concern with licensed people on a daily if not hourly basis, in fact I am tipping it is one such discussion which led to the current investigation in the first place.

I will continue to say it, for mine they are batting at nearly 100% so far and heads are stilling rolling.

If the meeting was a formal meeting in Sam Nati's office during business hours, no problem at all Bill. The fact this meeting between Father X, Mr X and Sam Nati was an informal meeting, over a beer at a public bar, after allegations were brought to the media by Sam Nati himself in early August smacks of unprofessionalism and particpants have the right to ask questions about it. Sam has no-one else to blame for any flak he cops over this incident other than himself.

Sam has done and will continue to do good things for Harness Racing but the only reason this family went to Sam was to try and broker a deal. Unfortunately Sam had no power to deal. Now that may sound okay but this family seem to think they are bigger than Harness Racing. Mr X has since been arrested and the family has crashed back to Earth.
Things will get a lot nastier soon if his Mummy gets the opportunity to vent...........
