What a great nights racing it will be
Leap To Fame! A couple of hopeful Vic stables must have wanted to catch a bit of Winter sun

Although it is Vic stables dominating the market for The Square

Magnificent Storm away from GP but a visitors draw

There are some real anomalies in the ratings spread in some races tonight

R8 The Sun: Leap To Fame 120 v Hes Charlies Angel 70

R6 The Mr Feelgood: Swayzee 94 v SIX 120's

All the horses in the Consolation (R1) bar one have a higher rating
It is an indication of how Bondi Lockdown is going, that he is in the consolation - he would want to win it or come back to Horsham

R4 Discretionary Trot: we have a range of 64 to 111

R7 The Square: Kenturio 53 to Courage Stride 95

R9 Sun Consolation: we have from 52 to 88

Sad to say that Bondi Lockdown is now just an ordinary horse

Leap To Fame is simply beautiful to watch
If Lazarus doesn't prove to be Bettors successor then maybe it can be this boy

Since the market opened All the money has been for LTF - in from $2.40

Expensive Ego at $81 - he has never started longer than $34 in 51 starts

Could this be the one race Ego isn't forced to do all the bullocking work and gets a nice run into it over tiring horses? Probably not but the $81 above was overs and specked into $51 now is still worth a couple dollars.

Other than I'll be cheering for Storm but hard to see a way he wins from that draw. Was probably a shade disappointing last week but it was a super quick lead time.

Elsewhere on the card if Majestic Harry & Fairy Tinkabell were able to find the front they are well overs. Both have gate speed but I guess being in 2 is hard to cross the polemarkers who are no slouches.

What do we know about the gate speed of Grimson's pair?
Drawn 1 & 2 - it just seems like it is set up to win - what big race hasn't he plundered?

Bettorzippit has good gate speed and could charge forward from the pole. I Cast No Shadow could easily take the sit and sprint-lane his way home.

I was thinking in the reverse order Trev, so that Mach Dan could not get zippit's back.
I think we all want to see LTF continue his leap but the young fella is now in the big time

JG had two of his topliners in at Albion Park this afternoon But that is no help if you don't have the best horse (eg Leap To Fame)

There was a little patch a while back when she had us wondering but there is no doubt anymore that Amore Vita is a champion mare

WOW Leap To Fame seems to be in a different class to anything else in the Southern Hemisphere

We will have to see if Catch A Wave or possibly a rejuvenated Captain Ravishing can supply some meaningful opposition in the future

Leap To Fame, the best horse racing in Australia by a mile.

The explanation as to the appalling performances of the Grimson pair will be an interesting read.

Ego started at $151, this for a horse that had never previously started at longer than $34
He is only 6yo and has only had 51 starts

Probably only goes down as $101 actually as I think they use tote odds

Would he have got him if not for being tireless - I wondered what was with Grant Dixon's skewiff position in the cart

Sky switched to a dog race, as they do, straight after the race so I switched back to the footy (best game for many long years).

I thought coming off the back straight Swayzee was running on empty but, as we know, Grimson's horses have an additional nitrous oxide booster switch. Even so, Leap To Fame was travelling beautifully and looked to have his measure entering the home turn. I thought Dixon's seat may have broken as he was hanging on too the sulky shaft and dropped his right leg to balance himself. I later saw the horse was dragging a flat tyre.

Watching the replay several times I think Hot And Treacherous contacted Dixon's inside wheel when Nathan Dawson decided he was coming out of the inside running. And to hell with anybody else.

Again, the sleepy stewards didn't see any interference as nothing has been reported in their post race comments. Apparently, pushing out and contacting wheels of othe runners is OK in Queensland. Even in the year's biggest race.

Trev, they came to the same conclusion for the cause on Sky

You should have been watching on Sky's Thoroughbred Central as Albion Park had exclusive coverage on that Sky channel - they often do this for a feature meeting

PP can be very observant
From last night's Stewards Report:

Supplementary Report:

Stable inspections were carried out at selected trainers with horses engaged to race at tonight’s race meeting. Jason Grimson was fined $200 under AHR rule 190B (4) for failing to produce a log book of horse treatments when requested.

https://www.harness.org.au/racing/stewards-reports/stewards-reports-detail/?mc=AP220723

As PP says, nobody seems to care. A $200 fine - Why not scratch all his horses? That would be a bad look in their biggest week

He goes a little further and states the obvious - that nobody can understand how he can be getting such amazing form reversals when horses come to his stable

Trev, the Stewards Report also had this

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred at the 300 metres in which Leap To Fame sustained a near side flat tyre. After review Nathan Dawson (hot and treacherous NZ) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving under AHR rule 168 (1 (a). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the racing behaviour of Hot And Treacherous NZ which was inclined to hang out, and also considered Nathan Dawson’s recent record under this rule. A fine of $500 was imposed.

I was too enthralled by the AFL grand final preview. And I don't barrack for either. A great effort by the real champ to still run second with one wheel seized.
