All races are drawn bottom-up with preference for selection and draw given to horses with the highest number of lifetime starts.

I don't know whether this has always been the case, I seem to remember a few first starters or thereabouts winning in the past - hopefully we won't see any of them this year

There are still a fair few first starters or horses having only their 2nd start
Exclude all the juvenile races and Humbletonian Day might better serve the horses it was supposedly created for

The first 4 winners, before today had had only 1 start in total - hardly what you would call plodders desperate to break through for a hard earned win
