The first progeny of the champion harness racing NSW bred and owned pacer Lochinvar Art, now racing successfully in North America, will go up for auction at the Australian Pacing Gold sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 4.

He is the first yearling ever to be offered by the Western District-based Levarg Racing Group, one of the leading buyers at yearling sales over many years.
I am sure they would have preferred APG to leave that out. Why are they selling him?

This is the first time in decades that I have not been tuned into or at the Yearling Sales in Melbourne - must indicate something?
We will have a look at them tomorrow

Good to see the results are already up
https://www.apgold.com.au/2024-melbourne-sale-results/
$210k, $160k and $100k were 3 lots that helped boost the average to $26k
This was $2,500 more than the QLD sale but the QLD sale was definitely more even as their top lot was only $90k followed by $60k
The clearance rate of 65% was near on identical for both QLD and Vic

Any idea what happened to lot 122, it was sold for around $120,000 but says counseled on the website?
For the passed in lots I wish they would list at what price they were passed at .

I can't say that I have kept tabs on this in the past but the massive takeout from those results is that if you are a breeder you are 50/50 to be a 'loser' as soon as your foal drops as the return for fillies is terrible
Of course I knew that they fetched less but from this sale
Fillies average = $15,500
Colts average = $36,000

That would be interesting to know Rick
If 122 originally went for around $120k that would have been TWICE what the top filly lot (139) ended up going for

It may have failed the scope giving the buyer the option not to proceed with the purchase

Queen Lizzie = Captain Treacherous x (Our) Princess Tiffany
Mum is also a millionaire but $270,000 for a filly to top the NZ sales is amazing
Why the low sell rate in NZ do you all think?

PP was suggesting that there used to be 3 Big Aussie buyers but this time it was only Michael Boots
He is also continually suggesting that the North Island is stuffed
Mum said a lot were small and had bad legs or splints

Clearly my enthusiasm is waning as I haven't really followed the sales this year
Here are the Top 12 from yesterdays Melbourne Nutrien Sale
7 are old Bettors Delight
Only a dozen over $60k in these inflationary times suggests to me that you would not want to be a breeder
To be expected when prizemoney is going backwards
Apologies for the fact that Nutrien's results ridiculously don't have a user friendly Dams' column
