R6 1609m tonight
Honolua Bay holds the Tk/Race Record at 1.51.9

Mach Dan v Catch A Wave
Both having their 3rd start from a spell and both previous starts in the same races

Hunter Cup: Mach 10th, Wave 12th
Ballarat Cup: Mach 5th, Wave 4th

Both long distance
Mach drew badly in both
Tonight he has 5, Wave has 6

The small field of 6 is a worry
Such small fields can sometimes produce ordinary affairs

Both stables would be hoping to show something for bigger races coming up

At 960m Geelong is not a big track

I don't know which way to go, if the draw was reversed I definitely go with Wave
Market opened with both $2 and that could well be the way they start

Inconclusive but I am not seeing any brilliance from the Wave
A 32.4 Quarter in a mile race is ridiculous

There would seem to be reasons for the Wave not being brilliant

Gath feared reigning Miracle Mile champ Catch A Wave – the best pacer she and husband Andy have trained – had fractured a leg in last night’s Geelong Rocket.

But an extensive veterinary inspection this morning (Saturday) left Team Gath shaking their heads and pinching themselves.

“It’s nothing serious. They went right over him and all they found was a corn. They cut it out and he seems good,” Kate Gath said.
