Thanks Trish, we are safely evacuated to Melbourne after sleeping in our car in the carpark of Stawell Harness Racing Club :D having been told to leave Halls Gap at 11pm! on Friday night

The heroic firefighters have saved the town at this point after forming an amazing line of resistance at the Bellfield Reservoir which is a mile or two south of the town

The weather has been favourable for a couple of days and if HG survives the high temp and wind change of Boxing Day, everybody is pretty confident that we may be allowed back in after that

Have a good Christmas Day everyone - we will be. After having lost everything in the Black Saturday fires 15yrs ago, I can assure you that people (and animals) are the only thing that matter

Good to see your safe. And the firies have saved the town Have the best day you can.
100% true re humans & animals . Everything else is just materialistic & usually a pile of rubbish.

Hard to sleep tonight, wondering how things are going - it is difficult to garner updates overnight but it would seem that the heroes are winning on what was supposed to be a dangerous evening. The most at danger towns of Halls Gap, Pomonal (again!), Moyston, Dunkeld and Glen Thompson all seem to be holding
