Brilliant night on Friday. It's such a great track for watching races. Unlike Harold Park which was a joke on busy nights later on, not a problem on Friday night. Going to GP makes you realize as a fan of the sport, how much you miss a proper Metropolitan Harness Racing venue as a Sydneysider. If only Menangle was as close as Melton is to Melbourne for us City folk : )

A decent night on the punt. Thanks be to Torque In Motion and Major Post. Slim pickings at Gloucester Park. Backed a few winners but they were on the short side and my biggest go of the night was early in the week on Raglan. What the #%$@ was Anthony Butt doing ?

Mr Feelgood looked done in that race. Geez he was disappointing. Going to take a metamorphosis tomorrow night. Blast out, drive him like a Champ or go home. He won't be getting any of mine though.

Caught up on a few replays of the earlier races from Menangle on Friday night. Kudos to Matt Rue on the Cullen horse v Excel Stride. No team driving there, that was a serious challenge turning for home, Well Done !!

In the first of the 25K country races on Friday night. If Panella got 28 days for her drive a couple of weeks ago, what are they giving the younger B Hewitt for his drive on the Fav ? I know the Old Man got the chocolates on the heavily supported stablemate. I'm not saying anything sinister occurred, merely the young bloke isn't ready for the big time.

That's about it. I'll be out there again tomorrow night. Hoping for fireworks : )

Good Luck !!

Hey Rob no matter what anyone says, being there on track at GP when the big races are on is a great experience indeed.Of course the experts tell you that the track is too small nowdays and thats probably true but it is what it is,but its just brilliant to be there and enjoy the atmoshpere and spectacle.I made the 500km roundtrip on Friday to watch the first set of heats and will be doing the same today and this Friday as well.It bugs me that every year I read on a few of these forums people saying its one of the weekest InterDoms ever.Even when Blacks A Fake won his lot, lots of people will try to tell you how weak it was.I havent missed an InterDom since Elsu won in Auckland and I think each InterDom was very special indeed. The horses that turn up to them are the ones that the connections believe can win it.Then of course you get the knockers of the local horses but I think they're a bit narrow minded in their assesment sometimes.I think that most of them performed pretty good in the first set of heats and I will be interested to see if they can continue. The drive on Sneaken Down Under has been criticized and maybe it looked a little ambitious but without debating it further I dont think either Washakie or Auckland Reactor would have run past him had he led.Crombie went well as did Dasher and Can return Fire,so I dont think it was an effort from horses that shouldn't be there because they as weak as what some people are trying say.
Anyway in saying that I think Lavros Conquest should go close in the first race and Zanardi eachway in race 5.

Cheers

This was my first visit for probably 5 years Big K. I'm back again the next two Fridays. Not quite the same atmosphere last night as Friday but still a fun night. Too hot though for this Little Black Duck. Zanardi was the biggest tip all night. The Hall 3yo looked terrific. The runner up clearly has more early toe. Should be some clash when they hook up on a level playing field.
