Sad to see the loss of Australasia's greatest race being downgraded to nothing but a glorified free for all.
It should be renamed The Australasian Free For All so as not to belittle the great race that it once was.

Are you talking about next years edition or last nights race?

While Im Themightyquinn proved last night to be without a doubt a champion the suggestions that W.A. horses were nothing but claimers,3rd tier horses and just making up the numbers etc were well and truly thrown out the window with a local trifecta. They may lack the brilliance of SOME of the eastern states horses but where they excel is in the field of toughness due to the 'pressure cooker' style of racing they experience each week at G.P. Tony Svilicichs's two war horses Has The Answers and Mysta Magical Mach are prime examples of that and many don't realise that MMM has just become the trainers second million dollar earner all from racing in the west. With a truly run tough I.D. series it was probably clear that as the racing continued the horses that were going to be the most vulnerable were the visitors. On a side note: It was unfortunate that Smoken Up went out of his gear because he was going to play a big part in the finish but to continue to drive him like they did was just plain stupid and it could be detrimental to Trigger in the future. Over all the Interdominions were a great success for W.A. harness racing which started in Perth way back in 1936 and finalising with an 'end of an era ' series in 2012 and it was befitting that it ended with a W.A. !, 2, 3. By the way aussie just accept defeat gracefully it's more becoming.

That's a cute little story Mighty Atom....but whilst I think Greg is talking about next years edition something in the back of my head said maybe he was talking about last night. So rather than go off and reply about something I wasn't sure about I popped the question to Greg. Maybe you could learn from that, because if Greg did come back and say he was talking about last night I was actually going to disagree, eg I was going to be on your side and say that the ID last night was very good.
No defeat for me to take, I think I've made it pretty obvious on this forum that I am a Quinny fan. Eg under my profile where it says horses I've got "Imthemightyquinn bandwagoner, I put him in my superstable and I said a few times that he will win the ID - even before the series started.

Awsome night great racing and a bumper crowd, such a shame to see the Inter format change. I took some people with me last night that had never been before, we were doing a cash untill the last and luckily we unloaded on number 1 which we cleaned up on. We left half an hour after the last and headed out and i left my mates at around 2am and they were still talking about what a great night they had.

Why do you think that ? Is there a bias there that I am not aware of,as far as I am concerned I love the racing there as all horses usually have a chance of winning. As far as the inter goes it was by far one of the best I have seen and I am sure Greg is talking of the future running of it.

My apology aussie, should have read Greg's post more carefully.

Congratulation also , to Richard Bell for his thrilling call of the race. Great work.
Also, very pleased to see Has The Answers in the Consolation stick it up all those who have soundly criticised him during the heats.
Great drive too by Morgan Woodley.

Great nights racing and as I have said before in other threads a bloody shame the ID's are ended in the format as we know it. Over the years I have managed to see 15 of them and each one was brilliant in different ways. Nice way to finish though - at the place where it all started.
