Just saw a couple of posts to another Forum that I'm a member of. Apparently the show will feature an expose on the TB's, how well or not so well the Punters are protected from crooks etc. Interesting. The bloke who mentioned it is invariably well informed so it should be worth a look.

Thanks christ you said TBs. I'd glimsped over a thoroughbred forum where the Four Corners episode was mentioned and your thread made me think we were going to get a public grilling as well.

Well I understand it is the TB's only Breno. I certainly hope so.
The hook to it is apparently Quote [sport, gambling and organised crime, what's the relationship and what is being done to protect the players from the crooks.] I reckon that it'll be worth watching, regardless.
As much as I believe that the ABC is a publicly funded Leftist wank tank, there's no doubt that Four Corners is one of the last bastions of true investigative journalism.

I might be wrong however I think it is 12 months to the day since the Harness Swabbing Case first broke.
August 16th I think is the next court date in that saga

Not sure VOR. I had it pegged as somewhere in the first week of August 2011.
This sort of thing is a Crap Sandwich that has the disturbing regenerative properties of Albert, The Magic Pudding, that I do know.
Sadly, it just keeps on giving.

Sorry should've included the below quote as well. Pretty clearly states that Sequenzia is a serious threat to the integrity of harness racing in Victoria.
While members of Tony Mokbel's old tracksuit gang are barred from Victorian racetracks and the Crown Casino - on the actions of former chief police commissioner Christine Nixon - Mr Sequenzia and several members of the re-formed group are not. This is despite police intelligence revealing they are a major threat to the integrity of racing in Victoria.
Not slander if we're just quoting The Age newspaper is it?

I'd have deleted what you posted there too Barry only that I have recently removed myself from such duties. It's one thing for you to re-post what has been written in a newspaper. It is another thing entirely to then toss your two Bob's worth in over the top of that....which is what you did. Like every single one of us, the man is of course entitled to the presumption of innocence. Like it or lump it, that is the way our legal system works.....and that God for that.

Will try to watch a replay of the show later tonight to see what the stink is about. (Just so I am on topic)
In the meantime it has become alarming that the number of regular posters are becoming so disillussioned with the site. From the sidelines it has become disheartening to see the likes of Don Corleone, Danno, Little Fish, Dizzy, Mark Diegutus etc feeling so strongly that they would prefer to take a break or abandon the site all together. Some of these have got more knowledge on the animals or the game in the dirt under their fingernails than I could ever hope to acquire in a lifetime.
There is no doubt that a couple of issues have polarised us. It is dissappointing to see belittling or outright ridicule being dished out and accepted on the forum as if it is just par for the course. All it does is stifle conversation. I am certain there are personalities on this forum who have no issue venting their spleen in such a forthright manner that some new members would find too daunting to offer comment for fear of some type of retribution. Jaimee, I think your offer to have moderator removed from your armory is a good move and shows good judgement. Have been a member of the forum since the swabbing scandal broke and have seen and partaken in some fiesty topics...and most of the time people have been allowed a bit of rein. As viewers to the forum we have no idea what posts are removed and what the content is, that is deemed unfit for general consumption...assuming we all know and understand what our responsibilities are, but I feel if the moderating continues in this manner or the attitude to removals of posts does not improve there won't be much to look forward to. I would not consider any of the folk who are in abeyance at present to be anything like the trouble making, shit-slinging, loud mouthed agitators that forced Jules to post the rules at the top of the thread list for all future users.
I think the forum has become a depressing place to visit recently, which is a real shame because without doubt, three months ago I was addicted to it and if I didn't get a daily fix, I would go into withdrawals. I hope the tone of the forum improves soon.:(

Well said Brad. For what its worth I think there are two things that bring this forum down; 1. People make things personal. Its all good to share an opinion and engage in a robust debate but personal attacks are unnecessary and cruel. 2. People can't control their emotions on certain topics and make baseless accusations or become plain derogatory. There are some very sensitive issues playing out in the sport at present, everyone just needs to respect that its going to take time and there will be continual ongoing challenges to overcome.
I too enjoy participating in this forum, sharing my opinions and debating with others on theirs. All of the aforementioned in your post contribute great stuff on this forum, it would be sad if they all left.
Jaimie & Dot you are two of the most passionate and knowledgeable people on here, I enjoy your debates... stick to the facts, keep it clean and there is no problem.
In regards to the topic of this post... thought the 4 corners story was incredibly boring! No new news at all.

Yeah, that gives me the irrits when that happens too. That 4 Corners expose was pretty light weight and old news. It did certainly highlight tho' that the stewards are always at a disadvantage with their investigative powers and if the police don't get on board, then obtaining evidence in cases proves extremely difficult. And we are talking about two stewards who were as tough as they come, Des Gleeson and Sherriff Shreck.

Yeh, I thought it was a fair bit of a nothing as a program, a beating of the bushes to see what if anything flew out.
Reading the tea leaves, there's a pretty fair old pissing contest going on behind the scenes between the VIC Police and the TB Stewards.
There was a lot of positioning and some associated arse covering going on there & clearly everyone wants to grab the bouquets & duck all the brickbats.
I kept getting these mental images of the old Keystone Cops Show.
Where there is wagering there is always money to be made and where there's money to be made there'll be people looking to make it and that should come as no surprise to any of them.
They all took their eye off the ball & now they're calling foul? Gimme a break. If this amounts to much more than a hill of beans I'll be surprised.

I will reply to this - because what you have written is RUBBISH.
The 1st message I wrote you MIGHT have a point - so will let that slide. But the 2nd message I only made 3 statements of FACT. Those being 1. Sequenzia is a threat to the integrity of racing. 2. Sequenzia was part owner of Em Mcguane which was on EPO. 3. Sequenzia is part owner of Sushi Sushi.
I then wrote, 'Make of that what you will.'
Please tell me how any of that is slanderous? Which part of what I wrote is going to put the future of this website in jeopardy?
I know you will probably delete this post, but I would appreciate at least PM outlining what exact words of the above constitute grounds for being deleted.
Do you actually have a defined criteria or is it just whatever you don't like doesn't stay?

Rubbish eh? Hey Trooper, it might have escaped your gaze but I didn't delete it...however I would have if Tony didn't and if Tony didn't then someone else would have. Like it or lump it. I really couldn't give a bugger. As for criteria, it was Justice Stewart who said it best when pondering the definition of pornography but it's essentially the same thing. To paraphrase him 'I can't define it...but I know it when I see it'. I'm somewhat blissfully not a Moderator here anymore and so henceforth you'll have to refer questions to my esteemed former colleagues.

I dont intend to get into a slanging match over this.
The posts deleted from this thread by me are some of the most glaring obvious cases of defamation I have read on this website.
It is fine for you to post quotes from newspapers and ABC telvision programs. They said it and it is for them to back up their claims or for them to use their not insignificant resources to fight any legal actions.
The additional comments added by the poster are an inference against the character of a person and the overall connections of a horse.
The inference that a loss of form by the horse when racing in NSW is also suggestive of foul play when no such supportive evidence was produced.
These are comments posted originally on this site making this website and its owners liable to legal action. I dont intend for that to happen.
Further posts have been a rehash or repeat of the same theme with the exception of the post critiquing the views of the poster about his view of the moderator.
As the poster does not know the moderator then such comments also are grossly defamatory.
Not so long ago people who posted such defamatory comments or for that matter breached the rules of the forum were banned from the forum. I have in recent times tried to avoid this action putting the comments down to ignorance or hysteria in the midst of heated debate. Some of the comments made over the past few weeks lend me to the view that some people are just not capable of showing maturity at offering a reasoned view.
I make no apology for the deletion of these posts and will continue to delete anything which is either specifically or by inference defamatory. I dont intend either to leave them here for all and sundry to read and make judgement on, nor to stimulate discussion about.
The unsubstantiated claims keep coming so I need to get back to cleaning out this thread.

The 1st message I wrote you MIGHT have a point - so will let that slide. But the 2nd message I only made 3 statements of FACT. Those being
1. ....Mr Name....... is a threat to the integrity of racing.
This is a claim made by you. You wrote it here. You have not supplied supportive evidence of your claim. Your claim impugnes the character of another person.
Because of the aformentioned your statement is defamatory. You have named a person in a defamatory claim on this forum. Accordingly our post will be deleted
2. ........ was part owner of Em Mcguane which was on EPO.
3. ........ is part owner of Sushi Sushi.
I then wrote, 'Make of that what you will.'
By inference you are putting unsubstantiated ideas in the minds of others. They should read between the linesthis too is covered by defamation laws.
Please tell me how any of that is slanderous? Which part of what I wrote is going to put the future of this website in jeopardy?

The rules of the Forum are linked on the hompage while repeated in a sticky on the Australian Harness Forum homepage.

Defamation my friggen arse can anyone imagine a bloke who's in with Mokbel getting so huffy as to want to take action against one of the best harness websites in the business just because some random anonymous bloke got on the net and said he's a threat to the integrity of racing. When it's been all over the papers and on the ABC right across the country.
Goodness me guys get a grip.

Well I didn't think it was quite all old hat, Les Samba's murder was only last year, but then perhaps I'm not as cosy with racings criminal element as others. It was evident that the stewards abilities are limited by the powers that they have and I for one would like to see the police become more involved. Whilst some may like the drug dealers contribution to turnover I for one would prefer to see all of those connected to drug dealing in gaol.
