The poll currently being taken for this honour is interesting.
You would think the 2 main contenders are I'm Themightyquinn and Smoken Up

As is usual the Interdominion Final appears to have a huge impact on the judging.
IMQ was outstanding during the series and in fact won all his 9 races for the year on Gloucester Park.

Smoken Up was again the journeyman winning in Qld, NSW, SA, Victoria and WA.
His wins include Gold Coast Cup. Miracle Mile, SA Cup,Victoria Cup, Len Smith Mile and 3 heats of the Interdominion.

As far as an Australian Award, Smoken Up has done more for the sport Australia wide.

Both worthy winners whomever wins it.

Smoken Up gets Grand Circuit horse of the year for Miracle Mile etc.
ITMQ will be a fitting winner if he gets the gong.

Nah, you didn't miss anything.
It is ITMQ's overall brilliance that has won me Bailey. I'd much rather watch ITMQ race than I would Smoken Up.
It's exactly the same thing for me as in years gone by preferring to watch Christian Cullen go around as opposed to Sokyola.
They're all great horses in their own right but some of them cause an immediate rise in the bpm of the old ticker, and some don't.
