The winners of two of New Zealand's biggest races this year - Sir Lincoln, the Auckland Cup and Gold Ace, the NZ Free-For-All - have both been hit by the virus in recent weeks. It has affected a large number of harness racing stables across the country and leaves horses listless and below par for between three and five days.
