The Grey Gladiator is no more. Admirals Express was euthanized last night as a result of a leg injury he suffered at the farm he was retired to. He was probably one of the greatest war horses to ever race in Canada and raced through the age of thirteen last year.

They don't make horses like Admirals Express anymore. RIP Grey Gladiator.

Here he is racing at the Hippodrome d' Montreal at the age of ten.

It was awesome to see those video's watched this amazing horse so many times over the years. It was also incredible to see a driver like Paul McDonnell have such a connection with a horse that they could do anything on the racetrack to win a race.

Memories of the Admiral will last forever, thanks for the wonderful article.

read the article on the " grey gladiator " on the canadian horse racing hall of fame website , what a workhorse he was , truly one of horse racing's " greatest grey's " . wished i"d seen him race while he was alive ( i'm new to harness racing ) but at least i can watch some old online video clips of him in action . rest in peace admirals express
