Poor old Chris has tripped over his bottom lip here

"bizzare" that someone might actually bypass one of the classics in order to protect the long term future of a potential supestar????
Talk about dickheads, Chris you get my "tool of the week" vote, hands down mate!!

Hey Dan,
I can understand where Chris is coming from. Its natural to think that given his stallion potential the Vic Derby would be a lock for him and given the trend of more and more stallions, in particular from the USA, not racing past 4 I certainly expected him to contest both the Vic & NSW derby. However Kevin don't need the cash so if they do look after him and he continually improves by the time he is 5 he will be literally unbeatable. I reckon as a 2yo he would have beaten most of the 3yos.
This horse is a freak. Between him & Restrepo we have 2 absolute superstars to take over from Smoken Up & Quinny.

G'day Mitch,
I agree with evrything you stated except "you can understand where Chris is coming from", you obviously understand where Kevin Seymour and Grant Dixon are coming from, where does a commentator have the right to call their decision "bizarre"???

I think as a journalist he has the right to share his interpretation of the situation. I personally don't find the comment offensive or disrespectful.
Slight change of topic but what did you make of Guaranteed's run on Saturday night?

And so he is... For some reason I had it in my head that he still had his rattlers in!

Lovely ,lovely horse that one, yeah he got softened up first up, then driven a little overconfidently through the second last quarter, but the concerning thing I think I observed was a bit of proppyness in his gait, I hope I'm "seeing" things that aren't there, because i reckon he is one very nice young horse, he has grown quite a bit from his last appearance and horses that do that usually take the next step to cracker 3 YO.

I think he has brilliant speed but not sure he has the stamina required to dominate derbies. I have Flaming Flutter ahead of him.
Then again never underestimate a Tonkin horse, his training methods get them super fit!

Pretty exciting first up win,57.1 for 2240 that's impressive in my book!

Unexpected or surprising? Yes.
Bizarre? No. If there was no rationale for the decision it would be bizarre but the reasoning is completely understandable.
I'm sure the folks at HRV would have a few different adjectives for the decision...

What I found bizarre was Chris Barsby didn't go on to say QLD would still trifecta the Vic Derby! He has maroon blood that bloke!

Some advice to C.B. : instead of just about falling out of the commentary box in anticipation of informing us with some dazzling sectionals and mile rates at A.P. I suggest holding back until you have something worth reporting.

Gday Rod
Just saw this one
"Chris Barsby @BarsbyChris
Qld have the best 2yo pacing fillies this season. Charming Allie (by Mr Feelgood) & Joys A Babe (by Art Major). Both did amazing jobs."
Neither left Qld but are the best 2yo pacing fillies?

I think Chris is pretty spot on, on times you could only have an argument for Mindarie Priddy. It's always hard for Queenslanders to stand up and be counted when southerners think the sun shines out of their ......

Time only means something when you're doing it.
What matters are Stakes races won, money earned, quality of fields beaten.
Everything else is window dressing.

Hi Jaimie, agree with you, give me the money over time any day but having said that time is very important if you are standing your stallion or mare at stud. Imagine Smoken Up ( gelding unfortunately) with a 1:48:7 near his name or a Baby Bling with a 1:50:5, both would command instant attention.

Sorry didn't mean anyone take offence to what said. Wish sun would shine out me arse... been very cold, wet winter down here. Wasn't having go at Queenslanders...just silly comments is all. If I owned NSW 2yo filly going for the Crown Sunday on the BIG STAGE I might be offended....

:D:D:D if anyone can find that information I'm backing Luke!!.
BTW some of you guys might remember Joe Ilsley ( IMO one of the greatest trainers EVER)
Joe always said "don't pay any attention to times...they change everywhere you go, only take heed of what horses your horse can beat, not the ones you run second too either, only the ones you can beat.
I reckon that was one of the soundest pieces of advice I was ever given as it takes care of a few variables which can sometimes cause you to be kidding yourself, and don't kid yourself! we ALL DO that from time to time!
Cheers,
Dan

His names down as owner that 3yo filly. He was asking what going to do with her other day. I said shoe her differently. Open all gates, wave arms and yell SHOO SHOO. So said if doing nothing can he breed from her? Said yes and gave small budget so he went looking to see if could un-geld a horse. Couldn't find anything. No prizes for guessing who he's picked. If they ship to Vic then we'll be doing a (very) little bit to support WA breeding industry.

Good to see he has come to the good side and is supporting ITMQ over Smoken Up
But how you going to break news ITMQ is also a gelding?
Just joking, I think he wants Tinted Cloud. Smoken Up V2.

Washington VC was on his list. One of the biggest spreadsheets I've ever seen. Won't be distributing copies of it in case he's right!! Yep Tinted Cloud his pick. 3yo filly likes him. Don't like anyone else. I reckon she'd look good smoken up on a bonfire!

Not only the copies of his spreadsheet but if he ever does find a way to ungeld. Worth millions. Might and Power, Manikato, Blacks a Fake etc.

While we are mentioning NZ sites, looking for more discussion I wandered onto the NZ racing threads on this board and discovered it has had one post for the last month (Hi Richard from Sydney :)) and on further investigation found that there is another site where the NZers post. I expect this will be deleted as the last hint of discussion on this a couple of days ago was CLOSED - pity nobody considers trying to get the few of us left to rally together to try and ressurect this site
