First and foremost I hope no-one has been seriously injured. Will have to wait to see the replay, Michael Formosa ($4) trailed the tiring leader, which had been headed and under pressure (?) has drifted off the track allowing Hey Hardy (Formosa) to attempt an inside run which has unfortunately led to a major scrimmage. Then the Clerk of the Course attempts the impossible...the vision is unreal...the stewards report will be compulsive reading.

Holy shit, The clerks horse has got a bit of speed. He must be a tough bugger, didn't even flinch.

im only going to hazard a guess at the brakes didn't work! bloody scary stuff to aim a clerk horse directly at the horse instead of a clean pick up from the side, lucky it ended as harmless as it did

As a fluke was watching Sky at the time and thought the Clerk was playing dodgem cars, bam! So nearly actually tipped over the horse in the sulky, very very lucky he didnt, what sort of repurcussions would he have been up for if he actually bowled that horse over, imagine being the owners and how they could have reacted?
Tough job, takes lots of skills i dont have, but Jiminy Cricket what was he thinking coming in SO fast from that angle?

Clerk of the course is often referred to as the "pick up man" I wonder if he uses a similar technique with the ladies??????

Video can be deceptive. I was at Tamworth last night and after reading above thought I must have missed something. Yes in the video it look like the clerk of the course drives straight in, however he actually went around the back of the horse, up the outside fence picked up the outside reign and pulled him up perfectly, with the gig bouncing around and tipping all the time. It is an optical illusion in the replay. The gig was rolling on it's own accord and somehow didn't go all the way over.

Thanks for the first hand insight Norm.

yes round the back and picked him up after pummelling into him first, no optical illusion there look where the horses are and look where he lands, knocked the horse for a 6, as a clerk ive had my misses and perfect catches (and the clerk horse deciding to give a better buckjumping show than the lunatic gallopers) yep it can all go pear shaped very easy, but at no stage do you hurtle into a field like that you work around them and work the loose horse to a SAFE pick up point, scary stuff from any view

And maybe video doesn't lie either, I was varying my view between the battle up front to the driverless horse. Side note - driver Stephen Humphries walked back to the stabling enclosure after a few minutes, no doubt feeling a bit sore this morning
