I had a bit of a whinge about this on my Facebook page earlier this afternoon...
Mile standing start races are a joke to begin with, let alone for trotters!!!
Then for them to stick 20 of the poor things in the same race is very disappointing for everyone who has nominated for that race...
They can't organise 8 horses to go away from the stand safely so how the hell are they going to organise 20???
And I hope all the blokes "HOLDING" the ropes at the side of the track let them go at the same time this week, because you wouldn't want a false start!!!

Ridiculous for all the reasons Adam mentions and I know there could/should be scratchings but what owner would want their horse in the race as it stands - it is hard enough beating 9 others much less 19 (should be double prizemoney as it is equivalent of 2 races)

I wonder if they ever thought of running 2 Melbourne Cups with 12 runners each instead of one with 24.
