I think you'll find it was the independent rad board that gave this penalty not hrv. Hrv were not happy with the penalty either and may appeal to have it increased!

I don't usually offer opinions on penalties, but I reckon its a bit rich appealing this, dead set rich.

Inclined to agree with you Kev, only difference is I'd go a bit harder.

It appears that NSW is far harsher with penalties (unless you appear in their advertising promotion that appears before most replays on trotstv.com). The fact that the two did what they did and lied on a number of occassions has to make you think there is more than meets the eye. I have always liked the Douglas camp but 6 months is a disgrace to the industry. If they would have conducted a post mortem and found the cause they may have been up for 20 years. I know on speculation but if you try so hard to conceal the truth surely you have something to hide. By the way I love Adam Brand!!!

V-Cat or V-SPLAT, why should these two get a stay? Everyone can see what is going to happen this will just get pushed aside and these two disgusting people will be free to train horses again, How about HRV grow some big ones and put there foot down and give them what any other trainer or stablehand would get if they did this, TWO YEARS at least. The Hrv want a heftier suspension for these two individuals. It was the the Rad who imposed the insufficient suspension. I understand HRV are appealing the leniancy. Anyone can correct me if i'm wrong.

It appears that the Steward's appeal was taken into consideration and the Judge thought the penalty of 6 months was just and appropriate but mentioned that the 6 month penalty was by no means a ceiling for this type if offence.

See I told you nothing more would happen to them,they are the protected species of harness racing, they are too close to the high knobs of HRV, if this was any other trainer or owner they would get two years plus and probaly $20k fine.

Guys, while we all agree what they did was disgusting and should never happen again. Tying ourselves up in knots about it will not help. Yes I agree 6 months is not enough. But I am satisfied stewards and HRV did everything in their power to get a heavier sentence. And anyone saying different, is simply deluding themselves.
