What an outstanding group of entries for The Linc Group Warragul Pacing Cup this Sunday - for the first time run as a mobile and trainers obviously support this initiative. It's not every day a Miracle Mile winner pays our little track a visit! Fields out Wednesday morning.

We hope to see everyone there for a great day of racing and entertainment on Sunday from 1pm!

Ian Dornauf, 9 month suspension from driving(Unless he's been granted a stay) and a $10,000 fine, Probably should read M.Dornhauf.

It is not every day a winner of the famous Miracle Mile harness race competes at Warragul, but that is the case on Sunday when Baby Bling lines up in The Linc Group Warragul Cup.
Baby Bling has won over $800,000 in stakes from just 47 starts, including the 2013 Miracle Mile in Sydney, plus a host of other feature races including the Goulburn Cup, Australian Oaks, Gold Coast Oaks and WA Mares Classic.
Connections transferred the mare to Lara trainer Dean Braun recently, and one start in Victoria so far netted a recent placing at Melton.
Sunday's Cup has attracted one of the strongest fields in the history of the race.
The first Warragul Cup to be run from behind the mobile barrier is the last race in the annual Victorian Country Cup Championship, and the result of this weekend's race determines which horse wins the coveted Championship title.
Arber and Savesomtimetodream, both engaged Sunday, have won three Country Cup races each this season.
Arber heads the Championship points, however if he misses a place on Sunday and Savesomtimetodream wins, the award will be a tie.
Seven of the 11 drivers in Sunday's race have won the Cup before. Among those trying to add his name to the Cup honour roll will be Trafalgar horseman Glenn Hunter, who steers Astronaut in the event.
Glenn will also drive Dawn Tears for his dad Chris in the other feature race, the Eddie Evison Memorial Trotters Cup.
Fellow local Gatesys Girl will also be looking to improve its recent form in this event.
With good weather forecast a bumper crowd is expected to converge on Warragul for this Sunday's race.
Racing and activities commence at around 12:55pm with the Warragul Cup timed to go at 4:35pm.

Really looking forward to it Kyle. Hope the weather is kind and the club gets a great crowd and the crowd gets a great day's racing.

Leigh, kids under 18 get in free. Also a free jumping castle and face painter, and an appearance by Koko the Clown who is brilliant.

Plus free Easter eggs of course!

I know of at least one Warragul committee man that is disappointed with the lack of entries for the Cup meeting at Warragul on Sunday

http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fields/race-fields/?mc=WR010418&fromstate=vic

Only 6 races (but that should be enough for you if you are within cooeee as it will be a good day)

Maybe a little less opposition from Echuca (a $3,500 meet only?) would encourage more noms for Warragul - maybe I am not being fair on Echuca but HRV has to do something to help resurrect harness racing in the east of the state - Warragul are keen - is HRV?

Must be disappointing there's no trotters cup.

Must be disappointing there's no trotters cup.

It was pointed out to me that trying to run two T5 races plus a TM1-TM3 in four days was never going to work

As has been the case in recent years, a tiny field for the Cup on Sunday with a 63 NR pacer making up the numbers in this 90-120 race. I don't know what the answer is but although an Easter Sunday meeting seems like a good idea - maybe not for the Cup

It might have only been a field of five with one other making up the numbers but it turned out to be an exciting race with plenty of early moves. The fav had the best run but was lucky to hold on

WARRAGUL CUP

The Warragul club has tried a change to their Cup feature and will run it for horses up to NR55 in 2024.

Heats are scheduled at Cranbourne (April 7 and 16) and Ballarat (April 11).

The $17,500 final should be well sought after, and will provide a feature race opportunity to connections of some horses that didn’t expect it.

I understand that Warragul have struggled to get a large field for their cup recently but if it is now a NR55 please rename it out of respect for the good horses that have won it in the past

ps I see that Warragul are letting Echuca have Easter Sunday to themselves this year and the Warragul Cup will be on April 21
