Former top Brisbane broadcaster Wayne Wilson lost a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday night.
Although best known for his calls of gallops races in Queensland (spending close to 30 years as No. 1 caller) Wayne also called the trots for many years, including Stanley Rio's 1977 InterDominion and Village Kid's win in 1986.
On the Betfair forum this weekend people have been recalling Wayne's career and one poster mentioned the 1987 Queensland Derby as one of Wayne's best calls.
I have uploaded the race to YouTube as they were looking for the race but couldn't find it to relive it again.
Unfortunately I have no way of posting the link in the forum so can only hope they also read our posts here, or perhaps one of our members has access to Betfair and can post a link to here!
Enjoy one of the great harness races, and calls to go with it!
