Can anyone give me a brief explanation of how NZers are classified when they come over here (I am talking about horses of course ;))
Upanatom 4g was always a cert in race 1 at YV today especially the way he has been trialling and winning R class races but how does he get in a C0
He was classified C2 in NZ after winning a $9.5k and a $8.5k race this season

I know NZ start their season Aug 1 but guessing because in August he was still a 3yo by Aust standards then it only gave him penalties as a 3yo.

The NZ classification is irrelevant. He is assessed as if he won those 2 races in Aust, so as he won them as a 3yo, he arrived in Aust as a maiden(C0)

Thanks Harvey but didn't he win them as NZ 4yo? Do NZ horses age on Aug1 or Sep1?

NZ 4yos during August are treated as 3yos still in Aust. They still start in the 3yo Breeders Crown divisions.
