Having really only just rejoined the hearing world again, I realize I have not necessarily been missing out on much.
I knew about the named/sponsored sprint lanes but to hear that the Bendigo back straight is sponsored is bordering on ridiculous
Pretty soon we could end up with
The Big Mac stakes
with
the Chicken Nuggets lead time
the Filet O Fish straight (or strait?)
the First Quarter Pounder
the Double Quarter Pounder half
the Hash Brown third quarter
the Banana Smoothie sprint lane
and the McCafe final quarter
Pity the poor callers!
Steve, I imagine you would of gone with the Hot Apple Pie sprint lane :D

Hahahahahaha, and more than a few times, the race callers have a hard time saying the name properly. It's funny at best :)

Big Russ would have had a field day with the above sponsors.

Bendigo's Tennotrump Back Straight has been that way for about 3 years. Maryborough's McPherson's Printing Back straight probably the same.
It's about revenue... got to cover the costs of racing somehow.

I have only had my hearing improved the last couple of months Noel (up until then I watched without sound) but I consider the calling of the back straight and the sprint lane by sponsors names absolute bastardization of the call.
I reckon Greg Miles would retire if they asked him to do that for the gallops

How about the Jet roofing Kilmore cup. They run into the Northern Fascia sprint lane. These two companies are in direct competition with each other.

Dean, I was worried that you were going to complain about my Big Mac Stakes in the opening post :)

Hopefully I can have a horse who would one day win the Big Mac stakes

Kyle continues to achieve for Warragul

Already Pogga have reached somebody that had never heard of them before - me
I could not bring myself to start a new thread for them as the longest price winner would have to be getting $1000 before I could bring myself to do that :p

I have toyed with the idea of getting a funeral home to sponsor the Passing Lane - or a chiropractor to have naming rights to the Back Stretch.
May as well take the mickey at the same time as a wad of cash!

Very good Kyle
Le Pine Passing Lane has a certain symmetry to it
