I have been thinking of kicking this one off for a while.
Rather than fill up the positives thread which could be kept for finding positives in the industry (not swabs!)
How about we put congratulations etc here (I hope the Cliff Richard title is not off-putting)
Our own(er) Adam Sofoulis took out the Gp3 Teeny Teeny Stakes last night
Nothing small about the odds however - I hope you got some of the $21 Adam but who needs it with that first prize hey
Shane Tritton trifected the race with the other place-getters being $159 and $62
The Tri paid a few cents short of $7400

Thanks guys - really appreciate the posts :)
It was a weird few calls I made after the race:
1. To my uncle who ecstatic as he thought Chance had won (he part owns her) - he was still stoked that PUD won though
2. A call to my Dad (who part-owns PUD) who was initially disappointed when I told him they called the wrong horse as the winner... as he had $5 each way on Chance! Until I told him it was PUD that won!!!
I didn't have a dollar on them (or Liberalitus earlier in the night)... if I bet on my own horses it seems a sure fire way for them to run between 4th and 10th!!!
It was definitely a night to remember... and I have watched the replays already a few times this morning (who said LP can't win without leading!!!)
Unlike Paul (if I recall) though, no unfortunate trips over couches arising from the celebrations!!! :)

Brent Lilley trained 5 winners, 4 metro class including a Gp 1&2 on tonights 11 race Melton program. Not a bad nights work
Brent already has over 80 winners this season, after 61 last year, and prior to that a couple of seasons in the 40's while 2011 was a stunner with 102 which he may give a crack this year the way he is going.
2011 was one of the years that I was not 'trots attentive' - how did he do it that year? There would not have been as many trotting races to win - did he have a couple of champions back then?

this is a post to publicly acknowledge the efforts of my horse HIGHVIEW SIGN who tries his absolute freckle out every single start - massive effort in winning on Wednesday night - not many horses can win from outside the front row sitting in the breeze at Redcliffe - he has had to endure 8 outside the front row draws out of his last 10 starts - he just keeps giving - love this horse to bits as I do all my old giveaways.

Thanks Richard, yeah it was a top run.Not much of her but she tries really hard.I was standing by the fence at the winning post and I saw her come right down the outside.I thought she had ran third from where I was standing but hadn't realised she got that close to winning. What made the run even better was that she hadn't travelled that well in the float from Goulburn and was a lather of sweat on arrival.

Thanks Kevin, a super horse who has overcome adversity every year. He was an outstanding two year old who missed all the Group races after a stable accident. He came back at three , only to fail in a Vicbred heat and had to have a throat operation. As a 4 year old , a severe bout of travel sickness after the Chariots nearly claimed his life. We love him dearly and he appears to be racing in career best form after all his setbacks. Hope it stays that way !

Firstly, congratulations to all involved, and of course, the horse himself, Lenny. Congratulations to the place getters & really everyone that had the privilege to be in it.
You know me well Kev lol. What a win! I love the way Lenny's ferocity/will to win shows. He certainly is my favourite horse since Smoken Up retired. Thanks for another great memory LTS and Chris Alford/David Aiken. Avonnova was an incredible run! I also think very highly of that free legged pacer. Did PHIL have a very bad day or is something wrong?
Richard prior
12-13-2015, 09:41 PM
Well said Ev, David Aiken has performed small miracles getting Lenny back to the track after injuries that would have stopped most horses and I'm sure that Martin will confirm this when he finishes with the celebrations. Disappointments for the day, P Man and Menin Gate in particular, Very very ordinary and he was beaten out of site.

Tell me about it Rich! What happened to Phil, and what happened to the Mallee Bull? His series has been shocking! There has to be a reason why he has performed so horrible this time round? LTS connections would be treasuring every moment :)
littlelenny
12-13-2015, 11:14 PM
Congratulations to LTS and all connections he was superb and to sit outside the leader and run that time just goes to show the quality of this horse and I don't know if even Quinny would of been able to run him down on that run.(unless he was posted on his back in the 1-1)
Congratulations has to also go to WA harness racing for putting on a great series and I am sure that the next two years will be just as exciting if not better. Hope some of the powers to be here on the East Coast have stopped and taken note cause that's what the inters are about and if they happen to win any future tenders let's hope it's run in its traditional format and not that strange format that was adopted in previous series.
Lenny
12-17-2015, 12:41 AM
Thank you all for your comments re Lennies Fantastic inters win. Re his recovery from injury he never broke down but through some scanning we found some issues while not major they had the potential to develop into something far worse it was then that we made the decision to err on The side of caution and have the stem cell performed . This is where the work started , the Staff at our facility "Sheron park" in particular Patrick Ryan who's patience was unbelievable treating and walking Lenny daily with a whatever it takes attitude . The Vets continued to scan Lenny all through the next prep and campaign . At the end of that campaign we found through the regular scanning that he had an issue in the other leg but was very minor even so we took no chances and went through the same process of treatment and rehabilitation . This continued when Lenny returned to David with David incorporating the water walker into his program the same one used by Black caviar. Lenny thrived with this and when he made it to Perth he came on again with the regular trips to the beach which in David's opinion is even better than the water walker! The amount of dedication that so many very talented committed horse people have shown to get Lenny to where he is today is inspiring , Lenny is as sound as he has ever been ! I know that all of these people derived so much joy from what was achieved on Sunday and a huge pat on the back go as to all involved!

Six of the best for reinsman Wayne Hill at today's Victor Harbor race meeting in South Australia.
That will get him on the harness.org.au honour roll of winners of more than five races at a meeting!
http://www.harness.org.au/hra/annual/public/drivers.htm
He had driven five winners at a meeting previously.
Wayne's winners were Windburnt ($6.80), Machtwister ($22.20), Queen Of Sharkz ($5.60), Silver Ranger ($2.60) Danamite Lass ($10.50) and Wills ($4.80) in the first six races. He led on the favourite and ran second last in the final race in an attempt to claim the perfect afternoon.
Incidentally as I read through and receive old magazines etc I look for anyone that can be added to the list on harness.org.au - as computer records only began in 1980. Another name was added to the list last week after a five race win haul in QLD in 1978 was discovered.

In fairness to Rob, he has spent much of those three decades away from trotting, but is back with his horse who should win further races.
Rob's last winner was in a night race at Warragul on Jan 16, 1985.
He also dabbles in training track design, having built the one he trains on across from the Yarragon football ground, and he is now building a track for local trainer Gary Quinlan on his property.

There are no mugs in all of his 11 winners either Kev. He might have a few more in store yet because he will still be in the game for a few years one would imagine.
it helps when you have rich owners eh. I could buy Lazarus and win the next 3. Does it make me a good trainer? or does it just mean I had a good agent...

I never said he was a good trainer :) just that he had won 11 cups and that the horses were all good ones no flukes amongst them. And both your points are valid, a lot of trainers would like even just one of his good horses. Credit must go to G. Hall Jnr as well, even though the horses he drives are very good he does put them in the best position to win and does not die wondering. I reckon they have even been surprised at how Chicago Bull has turned out
no of course but it sure is easy to get winners when you've got owners willing to fork out significant money on

That particular group of owners got the mighty Quinn a few years ago and I think that may have bankrolled them over the years. But you need that real good one to pay bills and allow you to buy the next one.A bit of luck involved.
One thing that people need to remember is that Hall, Bond ,Lilley etc come from NZ, have been associated with people in NZ for many years and have inside knowledge/contacts which does help so therefore any Australian located kiwi trainer has a distinct advantage over the normal Australian pleb who is trying to buy a decent horse for $25000. So therefore in my opinion a few kiwi trainers aren't as good as people they make them out to be, they just get better horses supplied to them.

Congratulations to a true warrior LIBERALITUS. Had 8 starts in the month of December 2016 for a win and two placings, all at Albion Park. Is this some sort of record? By the way, it had a quiet couple of months in November/October only racing six times each month.

Agree Pat: Liberalitus (otherwise known as Zebra) is a little war horse... Darrell has found some gate speed with him and he is just lapping up the new racing style - last time he led before December was in 2012!
He also got up on the weekend leading and winning! You may think that January was a quiet month for him too: four runs (3,4,3,1) but, not to worry, he is back in again tomorrow to make it five for the month... some horses lap up the racing and I know that the moment he feels tired or decides he doesn't want to race anymore, he'll be letting Darrell know!

Thanks for that Adam, I was wondering whether the horse would be suffering having that many races per month but obviously not. I cant remember having a horse who would even race half as much as Liberalitus. wish I did have one though- an owners dream. It might be the Live or Die factor too, they always seem to be tough critters. He is well bred too.

Agree with this Richard. Denis left big shoes to be filled and to date, Grant is a good fit for those shoes!
I would like to congratulate HRNSW and TabCorp Park Menangle on the way they treated my guest and I at the Miracle Mile night. Whilst there is a good chance I won't be in the MM final again, it certainly gave me something to aspire to. The little things made it: racing colours with Yaya's name on them, a hat for my guest and I (with Yaya's name on it) etc... The other guests on my table were fantastic and had plenty of stories, we cheered along eachother's horses alike. It has been a while since I have been at a race meeting and left thinking "geeze, I need to get more involved"... so well done!!!
Not sure what the cost is, but certainly getting treated a bit like royalty just for having a runner (not a winner, a runner) in a race was great... maybe an "owners bar" is something worth considering for a small taste of it on an ongoing basis...

That makes it 4/4 since they bought him from NZ
