Someone at work today made an innocent remark that for some reason brought a horse to mind :) The problem is the name of THAT horse just won't come out. Have played around in my head all afternoon and the best I can come up with is it has something about Mad Man (Men?) in the title? When I first heard it I googled thinking it may be a book or film but that drew a blank. There is no prize for helping I'm sorry, but my sanity and a good night's sleep are at stake :)

Hi jan, I trained him for a while and won quiet a few races on him. From memory the name came from a movie, I think about boxing or a boxer but I can't think of what the movie was or the character.

Thanks Nathan, I love some of the more unusual names, they stick a bit longer. Nice to know where it came from as well, I got a dead end when I tried to check but may not have been asking google the right question :)

And with the Lad, I needed a name with a family connection because the stud fee came from a small inheritance. Mullinalaghta is a small village in Ireland, my father-in-law built the Church there in 1930s using stones from an ancient ruin :)

I cannot imagine it is popular with the race-callers Jan no matter how religious they may be ;)

I'll leave him for someone else, got more than enough on my plate without importing $2k claimers from Oz! Thanks for heads up, maybe there will be a rush to claim him now that we have have inadvertently given him a bit of free advertising :)

LOL Kyle, seriously I once heard that Stawell is the sunshine capital of Victoria ie has more hours of sunshine than anywhere else. They are only saying a 20% chance of showers and light breeze so that sounds OK - we are always warm in the dining room :D Looks a good day of racing right up until the last

I don't know about stawell Kyle but I'm pretty sure it will snow in Ballarat tomorrow!
Ps Kev if I had a spare $2k I would claim him so he could be retired for good. He deserves better than hacking around in cheap claimers.

Heading off to Stawell, so much blue sky and sunshine, you might see me sunbaking on the grass along the home straight  (will need the sunnies)
