Quite a deal of hurt coming for the Queensland participants with significant cuts to prize money and breeding incentives being announced yesterday. Gold Coast Bulletin provides the details

Unfortunately with prize money being reduced in Queensland and South Australia harness racing is fast becoming the poor relation amongst the racing codes. I never thought I would see the day when greyhound racing would take precedence over harness racing but that is fast becoming a reality.Of course there is one state waving the flag and if it wasn't for WA, harness racing would be facing a very bleak future.

We have to find better viewing options for people to love harness racing. I cannot leave Sky on and not get a headache from be bombarded by race after race (mostly dog races!). I think people would have gathered by now that I am a harness fan but I have been totally seduced by the package that the gallops offer on Ch 78/68 (Sky 522 or racing.com) offers. It is concentrated on one meeting with lots of interviews, mounting yard etc. The country meets are the best as the 'polished talking heads' on metro days are less interesting.
We might not get our own TV channel but maybe we can be streaming something similar

Not while we're lumbered with an exclusive contract with Sky I wouldn't think!!

So true Kevin, it is so frustrating to have to sought through a myriad of greyhound races on foxtel to view your harness race. Even more annoying when a city harness race that may be delayed for a false start etc is dumped over to Skyracing 2 for some back -of-beyond greyhound race, Foxtel did this recently for the first 4 races at GP - I was furious. I don't have sky 2 because I refuse to pay an extra 15 dollars a month so they can transfer from Skyracing 1 to 2. I'm dumping foxtel after the Perth pacing carnival. About ten years ago we had a local TV station (Access 31) that covered the full GP racing program unfortunately with the demise of the station so too the harness program.

Hi Rod, I drop Sport from my Foxtel when there is no footy so I lose Sky 2 then too but can watch Sky 1 or 2 on my computer (but have to login into my TAB account first - see top of Sky page)
