Am sure you will have some thoughts on this one Kev - as others will too.

To coincide with the increase number of Saturday night meetings next season to try and bring the crowds back too!

Loss of service, personal touch etc etc

Next they will do away with the horses and expect us to bet on those cartoon races they already have on the TV monitors in the TABs (conspiracy theory: they are conditioning us for nothing but these cartoon races in the future, which will eventually be replaced by push button machines where an animated race is sped up so that you can press the button every couple of seconds - I bet machines like that would be popular ;))

Quote "Punters that would still prefer to call their bets to a licensed TAB operator will still be able to do so in the Sports Bar at Melton where a retail TAB staffed by Tabcorp Park employees operates seven days per week."

I think they mean fill in a betting ticket, if you just tell the employees what you want they usually tell you rudely to fill in a ticket !

So, many years ago HRV decided to concentrate on off course turnover only and stopped encouraging people to come to tracks. Result = decreased amount of new owners, breeders and fans. Look at the size of the fields for this seasons 2yo races , six runners or race is scraped. Most 3yo fields are also small.
They fail to look ahead and are just interested in short term money saving solutions that have disastrous effects on our industry .

Further to my 'conspiracy theory' that horses will one day be replaced by animation - have a look at a race from the Gold Coast Magic Millions today. After the initial jump, they go to a camera that for the next part of the race which almost makes the horses look like animation - you really notice the difference when they change back to a normal camera for the 2nd part of the race
