It should be a perfect night in Ballarat on Saturday
It is hard to believe it is only a year since the sulky fiasco
With the derby heats and a couple of trotting championship heats leading up to the big one, races 3-8 on the 10 race program are must sees
With his satisfactory draw, it is hard to see the Interdom champ getting beat unless they have done virtually nothing with him in the last month as he has bigger fish to fry - probably still wins anyway

Ballarat Cup meeting
One of the better race meetings of the year.
The 2 heats of the Trotting Championship and 3 heats of the Pacers Derby are very very strong.
especially Heat 3

I hope that everyone has measured the width of their sulkies !!!!

Both WA horses Ideal Tyson and Sprinter both drawn the outside of the front line don't tell me that's not rigged. Just hope WA horses stay away from Victoria because this is what they can expect.

Who rigged it? May be just luck of the draw? We would never know either way!

I wish the Kiwi's would draw that poorly Rod.

Did you cry as hard when Lover's Delight and Waylade drew 1 and 2 in the ID grand final?

And aussiebreno,
No, because Lovers Delight deserved it after drawing barrier 8 in his heat win but guess what before I looked at the WA pacing Cup field I would have put $100 on Devendra drawing barrier 1 or 2 and once again the horse deserved that after previously drawing badly. Do you see a pattern emerging here? I do.

Random barrier draws, they don't deserve anything other than where they've drawn.

Funny thing about random barrier draws is that it doesn't seem that random at times!!.You see horses that seem to get just dream draws for 4 or 5 starts in a row while usually your horse just cant draw a barrier...and when you finally do..the horse isn't going as good as it was!!! pheeww!!...tough game.

Yep, happened exactly that way with one of mine. Outside front, inside the back with a tortoise in front. Frustrating as hell, but what do you do?

Especially tough in an even field, Just need to grin and bare it and hope for luck in the run.

Definitely luck of the draw as you can attest to Rob with your bloke, I had a similar thing with my bloke drawing pretty crook a few times and throw in the shenanigans that were going on at Mildura when he was there and it was extra tough, The TV was nearly launched off the balcony a few times lol.

Could imagine some of you blokes at a roulette table or 2up. Its been tails 3 times in a row it deserves to be heads. :p

I am not sure Greg Sugars will be driving Don't Hold Back in the Derby final as I think that win is going to earn him a holiday. As much as I dislike the sprint lane (and wish there was an alternative), it is strange that Ballarat does not have to have one

Here comes the West Aussie, Big win by Sprinter Rod, Gary Elson has a very serous horse on his hands there.

The draw didn't matter too much for Sprinter? Cant believe how under rated he seems with the punters last night.

Maybe they read too much into Ideal Tyson's failure?

Well done to Smolda! Always have had time for this horse! Lenny was massive and would have had Smolda in a few more strides! Hotasel was super impressive! I wonder what last quarter he ran?

Hi Rich, He is a big, lovely looking horse and he is much more at home on the bigger tracks like Ballarat than the tighter GP track.

Got some serious point to point speed Rod, Don't see enough of the Mach Three over a Bettor's Delight mare cross, Sprinter is an absolute ripper mate and will worry the life out of anyone he races over here, Can't wait for the Final, It's a very good batch of 3yr olds.

Hi
I can only find two Mach Threes out of Bettors Delight mares

There must be more on the New Zealand website.

I changed the link Noel as HRA link's do not really work since they brought in the code and the classicfamilies one I replaced it with allows you to sort by broodmare sire and indeed you can see there are only 2 horses of note with that cross (and that would include NZ)

Thanks Noel and Kev, A NZ friend mentioned to me that the cross has been further explored in the last couple of years as more Bettor's mares have gone to stud, It's a very simple recipe that could produce Pocket Rockets.

I misread my own link (saw Three Queens above Sprinter on the list and thought that was Noel's second one but 3Qs is Beach Towel) the other one Noel was referring to was Betanotblink who was beaten favourite in the last at Charlton today. So there are at least 3 we know of with the american gelding The Real One being the other on the classicfamilies list
