The French clearly have great advertising staff Paul.
Can any of our European friends tell us if clips like that one are used as television commercials - it would explain their excellent crowds

A small field of 12 max at this stage

Bold Eagle will be very short and the only slight danger I could see would be Lionel if he happened to trot

Tough win by Lionel - deserved win but I wonder if Frank had saved Bold Eagle for last shot in the straight whether the result could have been different, mind you best horse on the day won.
I wish I had got some of that $16.50 Lionel
You can find a beautiful quality replay on Le Trot tv Youtube or an average one on Sky replay

I know you will think me harsh Paul but next to the French stuff it looks second rate.
It jumps around far too much instead of lengthy shots of the horses.
There must have been better close up shots of the champs - admittedly we have never thought to produce the theatre that the French do, with the caped horse leading the winner along the straight
Far too many crowd shots - even the AFL have worked out that they are old hat
Editor must have thought the dazzling sun shots were great 'arty' stuff
I told you I was a tough critic but we should expect THE best
