I cannot see why we are doing this unless we are that desperate for runners - at best it seems a gimick

See Maryborough today - Races 1&2, 8&9

One word: TURNOVER. To HRV it's the be all and end all of everything.
They have to make up the race numbers somehow.
It's quantity over quality 100% of the time. But being fair, all three codes are like that.

IIRC at King Island, horses double up. Kyle will know for sure.

The gallops do Stephen over there I think and from memory the trots may too. It has been a while but I would need to dig out the racebook!

I think they wanted the whole card in today's format but compromised on the one race instead.

If I was still an owner there is no way I would have my horse race twice a day unless we are talking Gp racing

I raced a horse twice at the one meeting back in the 80's and he won the second race too!!! however, we were running races at about a 2.06 clip in those days with horses that were capable of running 2.03 or thereabouts.....now we are racing horses at 1.57 that are capable of running 1.57....and therein lies the problem.

They ran two heats into a final of a series at Traralgon back in the 1970s so not a new concept. Plus the El Dorado and Holmfield at MV in the 1990s before the concept was revived with the Great Southern Star.

Can't remember name but know there was a horse a (long) while ago who went through 3 classes in one day at King Island.
