Legend has it that when Major League baseball star "Shoeless" Joe Jackson left the courthouse after appearing in front of a grand jury for his part in the Black Sox Scandal in 1919, a World Series in which a number of his team-mates playing for the Chicago White Sox were accused of receiving money to lose, a young boy begged of him "Say it ain't so Joe."
