First of all I would like to point out that this report which is Lead News is pretty much a Historic report - the figures are for 2018-19 (that is 3yrs ago)

A couple of things jump out at me from 'The People'
We have to get more owners (Syndicates?)
580 drivers! I hope 95% of them list this as a hobby as there is no way that 58 of them could make a living from driving in Vic
'The Activity'
With only 13 clubs/tracks, the Dogs would seem to have streamlined things
I am not sure about the attendance figures as at most harness and some gallops meets, I have just walked in and there is no way a count was taken BUT on the figures presented the average attendance for gallops is 2,500, harness 550, dogs 225. These figures are no doubt inflated by the big carnivals.
Maybe the dogs number means attendance is not important as they have overtaken us on the tote
I only include 'The Animals' to highlight how rubbery these figures may be
It lists 145 females covered for the Dogs
and we are supposed to believe that that is all that was required for 4,533 pups
That is 31 pups per bitch. At 2 litters a year that is still about 16 per litter average
This Engagement table is a total nonsense, it is what the clubs answered NOT the community
It is a biased opinion and certainly not quantifiable
This is the breakdown of the $3.2 billion Expenditure that the racing industry generates

This is where you see how badly we are doing (and possibly worse in the 3yrs since these figures)
Production and Preparation %'s are far too high but this is probably mainly due to Wagering & Racing being far too low
This informative map shows how we and the dogs rely on the regions while the gallops have got the cream - Greater Melbourne
For Racing Customers expenditure I have just snipped the Greater Melbourne bit as the rest of Vic is pretty insignificant
Over $700m of the $743m is gallops - here we are mostly talking about on course spending
This is despite Melton fitting in the Outer Melbourne ring along with Cranbourne (and probably Yarra Valley) but harness's $23m is insignificant compared to the gallops
