These are the people that make the show possible.
Don't start on about the punters being the most important .... because without them there can be no/little prizemoney etc etc I said 'Don't start' because most Standardbred owners and breeders have not prioritized money/prizemoney!

Last night was a massive night for harness but these owners aren't really in it for the money
Last night we had 4 Group races that were run for $30k and 2 more Group races that were for $50k
The big 4 were for $300k, $200k, $150k and $75k - yes one Gp1 was for a mere $75k

If our owners/breeders had prioritized money they would be into thoroughbreds. I know thoroughbreds are way more expensive but even if it is costing them half as much for a pacer - they are still making a commitment to the code that cannot compete with the gallops

Yesterday at Caulfield the gallops cheapest Group race was for $200k, they had three Gp1's for $1m, $3m and $1m

We must never forget to thank our owners and breeders. We should be so appreciative that they love the less fashionable cause - that we happen to love, and make it all possible
