Is there more to this story?

I refer to the article http://www.harnesslink.com/www/Article.cgi?ID=98185 where the main man at NZ's Racing Integrity Unit Mr. Cameron George is to leave this post to take up a position as CEO of a Race Club.

To me this is a backward step for a man who has been so heavily involved as a stipe on both sides of the Tasman.

Maybe no one loves him anymore.

You wouldn't want either slot though would you Bailey? Pretty bloody thankless tasks both.

Cameron George is a very experienced steward in two codes there is no doubt of that, but the new job he has taken on would in Thoroughbred circles on both sides of the Tasman been seen as a prime position.

I would like to be as sure of winning lotto that the pay packet would be substantially more than he is currently getting and just to add some cream the headaches would be substantially less.

If you think getting more money for less stress is a backward step then this is a backward step, I myself think it is a huge step forward for a talented administrator.

Jamie, spot on there. Mind you there has been some very good race course CEO's who have been recogniised with name races etc, Len Smith springs to mind.
Bill, hold on the lotto ticket. Could be wrong again but my mail is the RIU job was big big money and a figure a Club could not equal, but yes less stress.

Trust me Bailey your view of what our regulators are paid compared to what our administrators are paid it way off the mark, you can be assured he went for more cash.

He will get more money for less stress.
Apparently the ARC are more interested in what he can offer them with his background in property development and business.. ( part of his sideline business interests in Oz) rather than anything experience in racing.
The "disappointing aspect" to this is the the NZ racing leaders basically created the RIU and his position as Chief Stipe in a tricode arrangement tailormade to him yet he sees fit to walk away after only 18 months. ....for a second time....

Tony I agree it is disappointing for the regulatory side of things but each time he has moved on it has been to something bigger and better so good on him.
