We have 39 entries for the Oaks spread across 4 heats
While there are only 2 Derby hts with a couple of horses named emergencies

How is entry for the Derby and Oaks decided?
We have 39 entries for the Oaks spread across 4 heats
While there are only 2 Derby hts with a couple of horses named emergencies
Only 22 boys, same two horses reserves in each heat. Maybe they didn't think three heats would be any good betting wise. Hope the lack of horses are not a sign of things to come.
So how do they work the qualifying for the Derby (first 5?) and Oaks (first 2 and next 2 fastest?)
Anybody know?

Haven't watched the replays as yet but watching on track it seems the two Derby heat winners should definitely be fighting out the finish of the final. The Oaks may be a little more open with the barrier draw playing a part but to my eye Fight For Glory was the best performer in front of Delight Me.
