4 wins in a row including 1.49.8 at Menangle, has a 93 rating but 2nd Emerg
while Pay Me Sam only has an 89 rating
One win at Menangle on Jan 25 has some merit but the rest of the fields have been nowhere near the standard Pay Me Sam has been racing in e.g. a Ratings 90 and Claimer.

If Lochinvar Art can cross pegs in 26.5 or slower first quarter have to think he is a big shot to beat Self Assured again. We've seen so many horses fail from wide draws at Menangle in a hectic mile. I feel Lochinvar Arts main danger in this is how much work the Delight horses drawn 1 and 2 make him do. The other spanner would be Hurricane Harley trying to lead but I think thats unlikely.
Its going to take a good drive from Purdon to not be too far off him at the 1400-1200m and be able to apply pressure in the 2nd quarter without burning himself.

Yep, I see the eastern seaboard harness racing clubs this time Menangle are living up to their usual dubious behaviour when it comes to the barrier draws.
Our Alfie Romeo 12, Galactic Star 10 more than a coincidence and people ask how can we improve harness racing? well fair and honesty would be a start.
I really don't know why our trainers bother taking on a long arduous trip and then being handicapped out of the race with horrendous barrier draws
To eliminate any doubt, maybe all Gp1 races should have a public draw shown on TrotsTV, TrotsVision or whatever (or do they already?)

What was with the Late Scratchings?
Now seen it and although Major Dan has the first spot in the MM, I just can't see him holding off the challengers in the long Menangle straight
Thanks to an old poster for letting me know that the Late scratchings were Late Arrivals - I imagine you would want to have a bloody good excuse to appease the owners
Menangle week after week are dominated by 1609m races. Then just before Miracle Mile they put on 2300m races. Surely the fringe Sydney FFAers should be given the chance to race at a mile heading into the Miracle Mile previews.
Going by the mile rates they record it doesn't seem to make much difference. They only go one speed there. Still, peculiar programming seems to be a Sydney speciality.Quote:

They are understandably very disappointed as they loaded and left as soon as HRNSW informed them to expect traffic delays
In the wash up they say they were only 6 minutes outside the deadline of 2 hours

Both Self Assured and Chase Auckland have been scratched from Saturday night's qualifier and the rest of the carnival. Full story is on All Stars website. It is feared Chase Auckland may have fractured his pelvis in trackwork while Self Assured has a foot abscess, which would have been brewing for some time. He is flying home to Christchurch next Tuesday.
I suspect he will only have a couple of weeks off as three Group One four year old races over the next two months, the Taylor Mile, Messenger and Harness Jewels, appear to be at his mercy. Not a Miracle Mile, but not a bad way to finish off the season all the same.
Fancy a 1.49.8 from Bright Energy and he isn't even in the top 22 seeds tonight. Probably hard pressed to kick one out of the heats from him too.
King of Swing and Code Bailey massive.
They really need to have Nat driving on these big nights. Was she originally down for Chase Auckland and/or Self Assured?

Hail Christian not even an emergency dear oh dear. Black Prince in ahead of him. No idea how that works. Both ran 4th tonight, but Hail Christian ran right past him at Newcastle.
Bettors Heart went great tonight but it was just a mares race and it was a blanket finish - its not like she dominated. Will run last or 2nd last. I'd mark her $31.
I am thinking they may have had it in mind from the get go to put the Ladyship winner in if the time was good
Last year Tell Me Tales was a much better run on MM heat night yet they pulled Chase Auckland from nowhere.
Probably just reactionary based on last years feedback. After Bettor Hearts get beat easily next week they will probably bar the girls next year even if something wins with a leg in the air in 1.48.Quote:

They have Lochinvar Art $4. Massive unders. Cant win from 9 and not sure where he lands - death wont be on offer with Code Bailey then throw in whatever Majordan does.
Field Marshall $7.50 is also silly. Started $4 in a weaker race tonight drawn the pole. Will end leaders backs back at best or more likely 3 fence so can run on nicely but on tonights run couldn't have him.
In the MM consolation Hail Christian has come up $3.80 from gate #10, while testament to the fact he should have been in the field you cant win in fast miles from out wide at Menangle. Should not be $3.80. Bling It On wont be buried away pegs with them for one last crack so $6 is also a ridiculous price for him.
Our Uncle Sam the Grand Circuit performed horse draws 2 here instead of 10 last week, Hunter Cup shows he is every bit as good as King of Swing who is the MM favourite.
