Fast track at Melton tonight. Mister Wickham over 2240 and Chilli Palmer over 1720 were both only a single second outside the Tk Recs rating 1.54.4 and 1.51.9 respectively

Couple quick 2130m at GP last night:
Chicago Bull 1.54.8
Our Jericho 1.54.6
Lenny running 1.49.9 at Menangle and Hector coming home in 53.1 at the end of 2790m at Swan Hill - not a bad couple of nags to be sharing the same barn
Officianado set up another Tk Rec for Witzend at Horsham today
The 2200 Rec at Horsham is now 1.56.3

Bond's horse Simply Susational was SENsational at GP last night - 2130m with a mile rate of 1.53.8! That's pretty amazing for Gloucester. (though Beaudiene Boaz went 1.52.9 for a 2130m back in September)
Makes you wonder doesn't it, that was a good field and the horse drew 7 and paid $27. I didn't see the race because it was onto late. I would not have picked it especially with some of the good Hall horses in it, but it has had good form before a spell and it does have a 1:52:6 to its credit at GP over 1730 which is just about the track record. Noteworthy is that the horse is ranked about 40th for the inters which is the lowest of the 6 Bond horses.
Hector ran a slick 1.55.2 for the 2150m at Bendigo tonight but that was not enough to replace
the 1.54.9 run by the Turnbull/Jack horse Oh Jonny B Good as a 3yo in a C1 at his first start in Australia in May last year
Waylade went 1.53.6 for the 2130m at GP last night now. Small field of 8 though.
Hall's horses don't seem to have the indomitable punch they had before Stablegate ...
Not sure if Always B Miki's 1:46 has already been posted but love some of the content and quotes from this article
http://xwebapp.ustrotting.com/absolu...72402&zoneid=1
“What I do is stand by myself, because I get so caught up in things, probably about the sixteenth pole and then literally run with him,” Hurley said about his race day ritual with Always B Miki. “I can’t keep up, but I begin running toward the finish line.
...And then I hear somebody say ‘world record’ and I hear somebody else say ‘1:46’ and then it’s just -- well, there’s no feeling to describe it. I have a pretty wide vocabulary, but there is no word in the vocabulary to describe the feeling.”
Coming from a prominent defence attorney... now that's saying something ! :)
1.51.4 tonight at Melton is not far outside Cold Major's 1.50.8 Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MXM12111601
1.53.5 at Hamilton today is almost a second shy of the track record but it still seems incredible to me, especially in a C0
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#HMC18111605
The winner of today's Cobram Cup was always going to hold the Tk Rec as it had not been run from the mobile before but Cruz Bromac's 1.56.1 MR for the 2678m is a bloody good time and not out of place as far as records go
Flaming Flutter's 1.58.8 for the SS will probably stand for ever
The Boss Man's 2.00.8 in the Trotting Cup is a new Tk Rec taking 0.5 sec off the previous best MR for the SS
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...O271216&ms=vic
Kevin, this is a good time anywhere for that distance. One thing I always look for is how far back 2nd and 3rd are when these fast times are run and in this case it is 14m and 29m and indicates to me that the winner is a much better horse than the rest of the field. Nearly always when a real fast time is recorded-the rest of the field are left in the winners wake.
Great time by Cyrus at Melton tonight = 1.51.9
That is only 1.1 sec outside the 1720m Tk Rec that Cold Major set back in Feb
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MXM31121601
A great time- and made a mockery of parts of my previous post although Cyrus is no star. At least Bling it on has won over a million dollars so fast times are expected regularly from a pacer of that calibre (re post on 11/12/2016). Can Cyrus go on with it now? Note the stewards comments.
The track/conditions are fast at Melton tonight
especially in the mares feature
A Piccadilly Princess (and Bettors Downunder) was only 0.6 sec outside the Tk Rec sitting in the death rating 1.51.4
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MXM06011705
New track record 2:01.2 for 2700 m from The Boss Man with Ellen Tormey at the reins for the Horsham Trotters Cup. This is the third cup this preparation for the Scott Dyer trained trotter. Yarra Valley and Cobram Cups previous to Horsham.
He took nearly 3 sec off the MR of a 12yo Tk Rec
I would have gone but I am sick of the hot weather (although the Apparent Temp looks reasonable)
Major Secret took 2.4 sec off the pacing 2700m MS Tk Rec in the Cup rating an amazing 1.55.7
Now 6yo he won a 2yo Vic Sires Stakes and a NSW Derby but he has had two 10mth spells since those junior classics so he must have had a few problems
He has now won a Mildura, Geelong and Horsham Cup
A sensational 1.49.2 by Salty Robyn at Menangle today
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...sw#PCC10011710
After the rain Anything For Love still ran a 54.1 last half winning R7
9yo Leakys Smokin's 1.55.4 is pretty quick for Kilmore
Looking at this horses record of only 20 starts suggests he is another one of those 'what might have been' horses
The time he posted at only his 3rd start when 6yo (after only two 5yo starts) is a good indicator
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#KIC10011701
Horses like that are one of the reasons that the Tritton team sits atop the NSW Training and driving state metropolitan premierships at the moment after a slow start.
Don Boston just ran 1.50 in a $12 grand MO at Menangle.
What a broodmare Full Pleasure has been - Don will be her Sixth $100k winner
http://classicfamilies.net/CF/Offspr...rseID=10022286
(Its My Pleasure is missing off this list)
Hector's 1.57.5 for the 2690m MS took nearly 3secs off the Tk Rec
BUT the time is slower than Ohoka Punter's 1.57 in last year's Stand Start which will probably stand forever unless we see a change of SS policy
Cruz Bromac just ever so slightly broke the track record for the 2660 SS in the Hamilton Cup
Spot on correct again Kevin. It pays to read the fine print.
A super performance by Jedi Mind rating 1.53.8 getting within 0.3 of the Tk Rec at Swan Hill tonight sitting in the death
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#FDC18011701
Smolda's 1.54.8 beating his own Tk Rec in the Ballarat Cup is just ridiculously fast for 2710m
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#BAC21011701
Smolda is absolutely "low flying" but somehow seems to be under rated all the time. He has that high speed to be able to break a few more track records too.
Last mile in 1.52 something. Thats after he'd already gone 1000m including running the gate to cross and lead. Incredible and doesn't get the accolades he deserves.
Also makes the run of Lazarus look pretty good. Lost ground and momentum at 900m mark when looked liked ducked in and to get as close as he did when they were going that quick pretty amazing
He has actually broken track records in his last three races, in three different states on three very different tracks
The way Lazarus took 0.7 sec off the Melton 2240 Tk Rec was ridiculously easy and he is still a 4yo for another 6mths!
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MXM28011701
The first at Maryborough today was only a 3R0 but Rousey's 1.55.6 is a fair time by a 3yoF notching up her first win at her 8th attempt. She won by 22m and started long odds on after putting the writing on the wall at her last start when 2nd at Melton in fast time after sitting in the death.
Menin Gate's Maryborough Tk Rec for 1690m is 1.54.3
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MHC02021708
The track must have been very fast at Ballarat tonight
In the first 3yo Stars of Courage won in 1.54.2
The Tk Rec is only 1.53
In the last Effronte won his C0 in 1.54.7
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...A030217&ms=vic
Congratulations to Bling It On for his new Tk Rec 1.55.1 for 2760m in the Hunter Cup
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MXM04021701
Flaming Flutter just 0.1 outside the Tk Rec for 2680m MS in the Terang Cup tonight
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#TEC11021701
