The stewards comment for this race had me thinking the winner must have been the run of the century
17 3WL
Apparently 17 means Tailed Off. The horse was actually in the 8 posn 1x3 but the field was slightly spread as the speed went on approaching the bell
17 is simply a ridiculous comment
(This is from Race 6 from Melton last night - I just moved it from the wrong thread)
Grinfromeartoear could easily sire the Trifecta in the 1st at Horsham tomorrow.

Old Grin's an amazing horse Kev, He just keeps churning winners out. A friend of mine recommended him as a mate for a mare in NZ a few years ago and the lady breeder didn't want a bar of him but my friend persisted with the recommendation, The lady went ahead and bred her mare to Grin and it ended up being a pretty good result, Smiling Shard.
I am going but as is often the case, I may not have a bet. I live only an hour away and it is a beautiful sunny morning here despite a strong southerly
Just going through the replays of Penrith last week, could not help but mention our old mate "Doinmabest's" call of Race 6.... I think he was on the leader!! But he managed to get out of jail!

I reckon 6yo Indulgent might be claimed for $5k in his first claimers appearance at Ballarat on Thursday. I do not know what has gone wrong with him of late although you only have to go back 2 months to a nice 2nd
When he was with the Mannings I thought he might have made a good horse but something seems to have gone amiss
Brain Kiesey's $49 winner Shoe Shine Boy prevented it being 7/7 favourites at Cranbourne tonight with a treble to Andy Gath and a double to Emma Stewart
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...&fromstate=vic
It was Shoe Shine Boy's 7th start in 18 days
(LOL Givemeaspell won the next race ;))
Obviously, the horse just needed a few runs under it's belt to get fit! Or it could be just a case of the numbers game! Hey Kev, do you suffer from insomnia.......it must have been after midnight when you put up this post?
Who goes to bed before midnight? (Retired and don't have to get up early :D)
In a cost cutting move HRNSW have decided to incorporate the Mobile barrier and Ambulance into 1 vehicle. A spoken advised, "that immediately the start is effected the mobile will move to the left off the track, and then follow the field for the rest of the race.......the starter and driver will be trained in 1st aid procedures to provide assistance in case their are any accidents." They also added the vehicle had a 3rd usage, but said, "we won't go into that at this stage!"

Is that serious Steve? I don't know how I would feel about not having actual paramedics on course if I was a driver. Then again, statistics may show the call for their service may be no higher than many other jobs
Is that serious Steve?
Are you for real Kev?? Don't take up fishing. You'll miss your hook line AND sinker!!!
I'm wondering Kev if you don't need a bit more sleep...LOL
I actually try to go to bed at midnight (training myself but I am more work than a trotter :)) and often do not get up till 8am
I always said I should be a fisherman as I get hooked/caught on everything - dam annoying
Did you see "DJGOOD's comment on the Trotter's thread, it was like 3 O'clock in the morning!
I think it may have been closer to 1am but you will notice Richard often posts before 5am - an early riser and hard worker that man

Kev, thanks for sending in that photo of your last birthday! It looks like everybody had a great day!

Don't be ageist Steve, if you are lucky you will make it one day. Some of the most enlightening years of my working life were spent working in Aged Care.
ps It would be great to make it to 90 - that would mean I have another 50% of my life to go
Did you like the pacers on the side of your cake? Tell you what, I wouldn't mind a slice of that honey roll, right now!
I meant to say what a fine job you had done on the cake - I wonder if anyone here knows that Joe
Am I right in thinking that Gavin Lang did most of Susan Hunter's driving last season - seems to be Ahmed Taiba this season (Gavin hard to get?)
I cannot wait until December when we go back to two meetings on Wednesday's and Thursdays and some Fridays and thereby lots of sunny days at the trots

For those who haven't read this.
What about what this man Damian Wilson has been through. I don't know him but geez you would have to wish him all the luck in the world and many, many winners.

3yoF Sparkling was just that on debut for Amanda Grieve at Ballarat tonight

Can you tell me more about his oz exploits please
David worked for Blake Fitzpatrick for about 18-20 mths & in that time gained excellent advice & driving experience from Blake as you can see by this driving table. There is an article about him, I will try & find it for you.

Thanks for that. He drove the mare very well. 1/2 to TTL
Luke AWOL Melton last week. A 'filly' he's been following took precedence. But during the week he sorted his priorities (into the right order!) and returned last night to continue honing his race calling skills.
Poor buggers had bad hay fever all week but battled on. By the second last it got the better off him...
