He went 1.57.0 in the 2016 Cup. Went 1.57.1 last night so just shy.

Realised that after i looked at Young stat's after i was only a year behind but none the less a great effort
Lol Greg, I’m still trying to catch up after 2 years away from the sport, Nice to see you mate
Soho Tribeca's 1.56.0 for 2690m in the Kilmore Cup last night was a new Tk Rec by a whole 2.7 sec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#KIC17031801
Hell of a run by the Winner Kev, Damn He’s a tough bugger, A little bit of Blacks a Fake about that run
Mista Lombo new TR at Bathurst last night 1.52.4 for the 1730mts for John Mcarthy
1.53.1 for 2240m in the Melton Plate is an excellent run by Shadow Sax
Soho Tribeca deserves a spell

They came home in 55 flat at the end of the 2627m Warragul Cup so no surprise that the placegetters were in the 1,2,3 positions
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#WRC01041801
Starting at 20/1 mare Erico took a chunk off the Wedderburn 1750m Tk Rec when she rated 1.56.9 (mind you prior to this the 2150m Tk Rec was better than the 1750)

Me thinks the last race at Yarra Valley today is a new track record to Beach Surge rating 1.54.3 in the death
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#YGC09041801
Very impressive Kev, Beach Surge mother Lagoon Lady was a pretty decent performer on the track also
Thinking about how horses break records without finding the pegs (like Beach Surge death seating it to the record at YV), I was doing some calculations on how much faster they actually go for every sulky width they are off the pegs.
For a short race like at YV with only 2 bends = a circle and the circumference of a circle is 2πR so every 1.4m off (taking a sulky width to be 1.3m) means 2 x 3.14 x 1.4 = aprox 9m further.
I was going to add the 9m to the length of the race eg for Beach Surge it became 1659 instead of 1650m then divide the race time by this distance then multiply it by 1609 to get the Mile Rate
but before I did this I struck a hiccup
Is Race Time ÷ Race Distance x 1609 the way Mile Rate is calculated?
The reason I ask is I did this for Beach Surge's Race Time of 1.57.1 over 1650m and came up with a MR of 1.54.7 (actually closer to 1.54.8) but yesterday's results states his MR to be 1.54.3 Maybe the .3 is a typo and hence the reason that Beach Surge has not been credited with a new Tk Record
(No it is not a typo as I looked up the race for Outrageous El creating the record in 2014 and her Race Time was only 1.57.4 so this is a new Tk Rec)
I know I love Maths but is there anybody out there that knows how they calculate MR as I would have thought it has to be the above formula and my calculations for Beach Surge to be correct
( I did approximate that at 1.55 pace over say a 1609m race, 9m takes over 0.6 secs so if Beach Surge had been doing the same pace on the pegs that is approximately how much faster his new Tk Rec would have been)
My maths is really out, thanks DS for reminding me that there are 3 turns in a 1650m race on a 1000m track.
Beach Surge was in the death (and racing every bit of 1.4m off the pegs) for 2½ bends so he easily would have covered an extra 11m
117.1 ÷ 1661 x 1609 = 1.53.4 MR
1609.0 m is the accepted mile. For example, the gross times for Geelong and Charlton 1609 races is the mile rate.
Thinking about how horses break records without finding the pegs (like Beach Surge death seating it to the record at YV), I was doing some calculations on how much faster they actually go for every sulky width they are off the pegs.
It's amazing what competition does for some horses Kev, and perhaps, in some cases, some horses, some tracks, it's easier on the horse travelling the bigger radius compared to on the rail? Take Melton for an example, which is a bit of the opposite. Mildura tonight, another example. Messini's last half, what would it equate to if he hugged the rail? Sure, he had a trail but would he have run the mathematical time on the rail?
Don't want to go off topic or steal your post Kev but pure speed amazes me more than mile rates and track records. Especially these days, gets a bit ho hum.
An outstanding sectional time, Poster Boy last Q 25.9 Saturday night Melton and not as outstanding, last Q 26.8 from Shez All Rock Friday night Shepparton but somewhere in that quarter I reckon shez gone close to 12s for a furlong without the benefit of Melton's bias. http://www.harness.org.au/video-repl...de=SPC06041804
How good did Our Little General go last night at Mildura ! Races like that bring people to the track. He is an amazing horse ❤️ I miss the good horses and competitive racing , no truly Metro meetings at Melton or Free for Alls to attract our better horses and provide an exciting nights racing. When Lenny retires where is our next Hero coming from.
I reckon Messini made up 5m in the last lap while travelling an extra 18m so he has pretty much gone 821m (taken off the 2m he was behind Sam) in 55.4
so if my maths is right this time he has run the equivalent of a 54 flat last half at the end of 2600m
I too noticed Poster Boy's last quarter of 25.9 last Saturday - meant to put it in this thread - now it is :)
I was asked what Soho Tribeca's MR might have been in the Miracle Mile
I will give him the same time as the winner 1.46.9 but calculate that he travelled an extra 11m based on him being 2 sulkies wide for half the first bend and 1 sulky wide for the rest of it and for all the second bend
so he did 1.46.9 for 1620m which when converted to a MR is about 1.46.2 (which the Americans call 1.46.1 as they talk in fifths)
Cruz has reduced the Horsham 1700m Tk Rec to 1.53.0 from the previous 1.53.8 leading and winning a C1 by 17m on Cup Day
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#HSC22041803
Im The Boss took a big chunk off the Shep 2690m Tk Rec tonight when he beat stablemate Lenny in the Cup.
Another stablemate Hector owned the old record with a 1.57.5 MR which ITB has reduced to 1.56.1
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#SPC28041801
Across the border the big event of the night - the APG 2yo Fillies Final saw Soho Nolita rate 1.53.0
Bloody quick but thanks to Club Menangle making all class of records available to the public, I can tell you it is a bit short of Heavens Trend's 1.52.1 Australasian Record for the 2yoF
( Why can't Melton provide their class records online - I have asked so many times, I can only figure it is because they are useless or don't care)
Replay of Shep Cup is messed up Kev but I’d say Breno would have had something on Brallos Pass e/w
The Shepp Cup was a great spectacle. Video replay still not corrected unfortunately. Lenny just as inspiring as if he'd won. Taking nothing away from I'm The Boss but Lenny in the death and possibly short of a run, taking on Cruz Bromac, fought so tenaciously down the straight and just missed owning the track record. I think the crowd were pretty proud of Lenny, didn't matter that much he didn't win. The proud owners of Im The Boss also humbled in defeating Lenny, was a nice, genuine, gesture.
On the entertainment and attendance side of the cup meeting, I thought a very good crowd especially considering the rerun and cooler weather this time. Don't know what the attendance numbers were but going by the car parking, it looked very good. Was a happy, fun, family, exciting vibe. A real party atmosphere. Pretty well the perfect night :)
Bring on the next rotation of Inter Dom heats!
Hi Kevin, not sure who you have asked, but I don't concur with your assessment that people 'are useless or don't care'.
I believe the information you are after is available via http://www.harness.org.au/vic-clubs-and-tracks-index.cfm and/or http://www.harness.org.au/tabcorppark/tabcorppark.cfm?fromstate=vic
Kind Regards, David
I have been asking HRV for 'Class records' not just Tk records for years David - with promises received but no result (hence my harsh assessment). If Menangle can do it why can't we?
It goes hand in hand with promoting our champions. Eg a 2yo runs a brilliant time - it may be the best ever for a 2yo but we are not to know as we only have Open class Tk records to compare it to to
I think I know about the link you provided David as I started this thread nearly 5 years ago and many of its 500+ posts are mine . It is actually on my bookmarks bar. I think the fact that it has had over 150,000 views suggests people would be interested in Class records too
Would help fillies/ mares a hell of a lot with breeding in mind, I’m all for it Kev
You will see at the bottom of page 1 of the following thread that Cody Winnell thought we would have class records by now
http://www.harnessracingforum.com/sh...-class-records
If you look at what RISE is responsible for nowadays
http://www.rise-it.com.au/portfolio/
Maybe they are to blame for not being up to the same standard as Menangle
Just checked the link. If the link represents what RISE is responsible for NOWADAYS, you could draw a simple conclusion.
Not a lot in the past 7 years.
UNTITLED (LIVE OR DIE USA) paced 1:55.6 at WAGGA tonight (15.5.18) to win the 10k COUNTRY SERIES HEAT breaking the track record time by 1 full sec.
Congratulations to trainer / driver BRAD HEWITT and the owner MILLY HEWITT.
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=WW150518
Unfortunately, LIVING AGAIN NZ (LIVE OR DIE USA) missed winning 5 straight races today at Menangle after galloping. It however still boasts an impressive record of 9 wins from 18 starts.
That was an absolute armchair ride on Untitled, Live or Die has been a terrific stallion over the years and great value for money, He must be close to or over 1000 individual winners now in Australia and New Zealand
Just 2 months since Brad Hewitts Our Triple Play broke the 2565m track record.
Hell yes Breno, Chilly up here so I’m thinking Wagga would have been single digits
Lol done bud
2yo Betterthancheddar gelding Betternbetter rated 1.54.3 again winning the Home Grown Classic at Melton tonight.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a record when he did it at Bendigo but I think it would be a bit off the Melton class record (but who would know as they cannot be found anywhere! )
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#MXM19051807
Pin Stripes and Kasbah Kid breaking 1.54 on a cool day at Maryborough was a fair effort (the Tk Rec is 1.52.4)
Especially when you consider they were 4w and 3w around the first bend in a 26.6 Q1
Kasbah Kid is Our Little General's half bro

I should have mentioned that there was one of those tricky protests between these 2 horses after PS interfered with KK in that early speed battle
