Centanario at Bendigo .7 off Poster Boys track record
He finished 49m in front of the 3rd horse
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#KIC05021906
3yo novices seem to smash it at Yarra Glen
Yesterday first starter Holy Basil's 1.54.2 at his first ever start was only 0.1 outside the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#YGC06021907
That record is held by Emma Stewart's Our Millionaire who claimed the record at his 2nd start
That was the somewhat controversial race where Alford on the Lilley runner hindered the Aiken fav at the start

2.03.3 MR was enough to score Pantz Up a new Tk Rec in Echuca's trotters cup on Friday night - her 7th win in a row
The time may not seem very quick but it is a 800m track and they were racing over 2530m from the Stand

Flitting around the net I noticed that Waiona has held the Terang 2180m Tk Rec since Feb 2009!
Waiona ended up winning $136k , notching up his M0 the next season and a couple of years after that won a Hobart Cup
1.56.6 for a 4yo back then was a good time but since then Glenferrie Hood has rated 1.56.3 for 2680m winning the Terang Cup in 2016
Maybe they can lower Waiona's mark at the Cup meet but the class of race covering the distance this Saturday makes it seem like the record will live on (especially with no first half sectionals requirement)

Hurricane Harley sets a new Tk Rec for 2190m at Shep
1.54.1 by the 3yo took a whole 0.8 secs off
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#SPC13021907
Fair effort by Lochinvar Art
I must have had a premonition that it would be a night for records ( and thus I finally made it to Terang )
4 Records broken
Jackierabbit in a lowly C0 breaks that old 2180m record (this is a serious horse)
Mclovin breaks the record for the Trotters Cup (the Gaths next star trotter)
Maretai breaks the Pacing Cup record
Tam Major the 1680m record
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=TE160219
Sicario's 1.55.7 for 2080m in the $25k listed Eastern Challenge at Cranbourne tonight was just good enough to take the minimum off the Tk Rec
While in the very next race Monty Python's 2.00.3 in the Trotters Cup is being credited as a new Tk Rec but I think it only equalled Tornado Valley's MR for the 2555m and TV's gross time was 0.1 faster

Hamilton got what they hoped for by putting on the Glen Miles Memorial Mile for $14k today
Jilliby Chevy smashed the Tk Rec for 1660m rating 1.50.6
He drew inside the 2nd row and spent some time in the death so in my book it was the equivalent of a sub 1.50
It was nearly the fastest country track in Victoria before today and now it holds the mantle by a good way
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#HMC03031901
Buster Brady's 1.55.4 mile rate for the 2690m of the Maryborough Gold Cup today took over a second off the old Track Record
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#MHC08031901
ps Further to my post about Hamilton now being the fastest country track in Vic, forget the 'country' qualification - it is the fastest track in Victoria (including Melton)
3yo Foolish Pleasure's 2.00.0 for 1750m equalled the Tk Rec at Birchip today
While 9yo Gollahman's 2.00.2 for 2150m set a new Tk Rec
11yo I Am I Cried's 2.04.9 for 1750m in the trot would be a new mark for the trotters as I do not think they have raced over that distance before
There looked to be a good crowd there for Birchip's once a year meet
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=IR100319
Speed Explosion - NOT
I didn't think I would see an M0 won in 2.01.5 again
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...19#MXM16031912
Elle Yeah 1.52.6 today at Wagga and could have gone quicker
Won by 33m and took 2.3 secs off Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#WWC22031907
Soho Hamilton ran 1.54.4 at Maryborough trials over 1690m on Sunday ! Not bad for a 2yo. I was pretty happy with my fillies effort to finish 3rd just 13m away.
On a cold night at Bendigo, C3 pacer Whats In The Esky ran another fast time for 1650m when he went 1.53.1
Back in October he ran 1.53.6 and tonight was only his 2nd start back after a 6mth spell
The 1650m Tk Rec of 1.52.0 is held by Konan who set the mark in his 3rd ever start when a 3yo
You would think that this record could be considerably lower if the open class ever had a crack at it
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#BNC07061902
3yo Sahara Tiger's 1.56.6 for 2210m in the Traralgon Cup at Warragul today was only 0.2 outside the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#WRC23061902
Tact Major's win in the Winter Cup rating 1:55:0 over the 2536 metres on the small Gloucester Park track was quite a run, not the track record but fast considering its winter.
Early 4yo Aveiro's 3rd win at his 17th start was fast for Shep - rating 1.54.5 (the Tk Rec is 1.53.9)
Placegetters Shark Port and Goes Boom were every bit as good a runs as they did more work
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#SPC20091905
Lumineer's 1.56.5 for 2180m at Terang tonight equalled the Tk Rec
(mind you Maretai's time for 2680m in the cup this year is faster)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#TEC01101902
Deedenuto's 1.55.6 for 2100m at Geelong tonight took 0.5 secs off the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#GEC31101902
Extra good when you consider he drew SR5 and spent the first lap 3W
He got challenged in Q3 and then still found in the home str to hold them off
For an early 3yo having his first start
Born To Be Watched's 1.55.0 at the relatively slow course Cranbourne was a most impressive debut
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#CRC24111907
I'm NOT QUITE SURE, why, "bigger horses" would be at a disadvantage, "banging out the miles" !!??
Depending on ANATOMY (hence, length of stride, then, the strides per mile theory) would suggest, a bigger long striding horse would/should beat a smaller horse.....However, as history HAS PROVEN, smaller horses have come home first plenty of times, enough to make the breed evolve faster and faster (Chicken and egg Quandary, again), with more and more 'smaller sized' horses have come to the top...
Size of Horse, I feel, means Nothing....assuming everything structurally being relative to each other....Size/Frame/stride/bone.....one without the others is useless.
Before Bettor's Delight blew all the previous "Size Matters" protagonists out of the water, there was Cam himself, most of his sire sons, Good Time ect in USA and in Oz, who can forget Courage under Fire, Sinbad, Quinny, Koala King and so on......If Memory Serves, U.Scott and Light Brigade were only about 15h......but I stress, I am memorizing here...
Little Horses ARE just "Scarier" to drive Flat out around the smaller bends...they do create a "Buzz".....even for someone like me that has no adrenaline production!....
Joe Nien's 1.55.0 for 1755m at Echuca tonight would have to be a Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#ECC12121901
Arggghhh's 1.53.7 in the last at Yarra Glen today broke the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#YGC13121902
All 3 track records broken at Elmore yesterday in Races 2,3 & 6
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=EE261219
And at Ballarat The Storm Inside ran a sensational 1.50.7 to break the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#BAC26121901
I have been told that new Elmore best times will not be recognized as records due to changes to pegs and there has not been an official re-measure
You would think the measure could be done retrospectively and the times recognized if the measure provides confirmation
A great call in the Cup by Luke Humphreys and I think Shannon O'Sullivan would have been worried as to whether her salute was a little early
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#EEB26121902
While at Stawell today Marjorie Jean over 1785m and Keayang Blinky over 2180m were only 0.4 and 0.3 off the Tk Records
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=SW271219
I sometimes think the improvement in times in Australia in the last decade has been staggering
I look at Kilmore today, a 3yo having his first start sits in the death and rates 1.55.6
Kilmore is not a fast track. Bitobliss holds the Tk Rec at 1.53.4
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#KIC02012005
As well as Code Bailey's staggering Tk Rec in the Bendigo Cup
I see Balraj was only 0.2 sec off the Goulburn record when he rated 1.52.7 last night
I feel like any mention of Balraj should also include this footnote

Or a link to this thread

Got to give a mention to the old warhorse Courage Tells 12 years old and wins in 1:54:3 at GP last night.
245 starts. Amazing animals aren't they Rod
I was just looking at yesterday's Scottsdale Cup (it has to be the shortest home straight in the world) and marvelling at how winner Ideal World had been around in his 58 starts and ends up getting his biggest payday at Scottsdale
Not exactly speed explosion stuff however as the MR was 2.10.7
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/hor...horseId=797952
1.57.1 might not seem like a 'speed explosion' nowadays
But this MR by 3yo filly Sew What in the first at Ararat tonight broke the 1790m Tk Rec by 0.1 secs
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#ARC21012007
The Barry Howlett stable is flying at the moment Talktomeurmattjesty in 1:54:9 over 2536 metres.
Yes, Brendan that Busselton track I think they only have 3 or 4 meetings a year thank goodness. I only raced a few horses there (not figuratively) many years ago that was enough. It's a wonder the horses don't get giddy going around
although I think they have actually lengthened the straight since the old days.
Scottsdale home straight just 4.5 metres longer than Broken Hill,
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/tracks/broken-hill/
Your comment made me check them Kev, I was surprised as I reckon Broken Hill is lucky to be 84.5m.
