I was going to mention a very rare occurrence, A double Deadheat in a race in New Zealand yesterday, For more information and a replay, Have a look at the NZ link.
I remember thinking that the wonderfully named Indulgent was a likely type working his way through the classes up until about 18mths ago, now he cannot run a drum in a very weak ascending order C1. Sad
The fastest MR at Kilmore tonight was only 2.01.6 - too cold?
A mares C0 at Geelong for Monday can only attract 6 acceptors - how can that be?
Wouldn't like to be in Canberra racing tonight, It's freezing and wet in Sydney and Canberra is a freezing place at the best of times.
Why the wider sulkies were banned In Oz.

When you have a record like hers you cannot afford to look sideways - which IMO is fair enough
How can no one at HRV see that Longtan Bliss's lead time for Ballarat last night cannot be right and NO she did not rate 2.09
Caller said 43.6 but the results are showing 57.5

A $1 win bet all up on the numbers 4-2-1 in Races 3-4-5 at Bendigo tonight, would have returned you about $35k
(I like to dream sometimes :D)
touché :D
Soon after typing that I thought to myself
The Cranbourne track seemed to race pretty slow for a Good rating today
Interesting runner at Ashburton Sunday 3/5 race 4 no 9 Cable Beach.
No, the horse was at Brian Hancock's and a majority interest was purchased by clients of Graham Court during one of his stays at Hancock's stables when in Australia with Terror to Love.
Although it was probably the drive he needed to win (he was not so much better than them that he should have been $1.40), I am not sure I agree with the Sky boys giving Kate Gath a 10/10 for her drive on Padrisimo as she allowed herself to be pocketed

He does not seem to have much size about him and it was probably important to not knock him around in his first start back from a spell
That is 7/12 wins for Rob Nalder
Yes, the Horse (Padrisimo) is a midget & has not grown much from his Foaling date. Without getting into a typical owners debate - thoughts about his pride & joy, there are a couple of things I should say. Padrisimo spends every second in a playful mood each and every day, in fact from 1st light - moment each day, life is just a big game to him. He has thrown away more than one race thinking it is all over, the game that is, once he gets to a winning spot in the run home . He will sit on speed & hit the line like a very good horse if chasing from behind, as to him the game is still on. So the way Kate drove the race last night was 10/10 as this is what works best for the Horse. Andy has tried to get around his games with stack of alternatives, as he has great gate speed, but he has decided to try playing the little mans (Padrisimo's) games. So we know he will lose some races along the way but hopefully we win far more by allowing our Midget to keep playing his games. Hope this explains a bit more about our little bloke.
By the way Andy still charges the same rate for training a midget as he would a normal sized horse.
I can confirm Rob's explanation and reply to a tee after speaking to him about Padrisimo a couple of months ago and knowing the little horse has a habit of knocking off, I would give Kate a 10 from 10 for the drive.
The 10/10's have it LOL
Great insight thanks Rob - the Sky announcer must have known.
I don't mind being wrong, especially when I get such a good story in return
While agreeing with you about the absolute importance of foal numbers Rob and you are more or less coming at it from the point of making it more affordable, I also think that Harness Racing has to get their head around this equation:
Exposure = Punting $ = Higher Stakes = Owners = Breeding
We have to improve our exposure. I have a family member who works in PR and I am astonished how they can get favourable media placement for clients and it makes me think that HR either don't get it or have the wrong PR people.
The remainder of this discussion has been transferred to the Caribbean Blaster thread under BREEDING where it has been discussed previously.
My Kiwi Mate (engaged tonight in The Reg Withers at Kilmore v Follow The Stars and that other horse we cannot mention) has been very competitive in the better NZ 3yo races - what would it have cost to buy this gelding (2nd dam is Classical)?
Is Joanne Justice a JD too or didn't she actually drive Mister Douglas tonight?

Kevin, All very good points you raise. As I have said many times our industry is one that keeps trying to sell a secret. In the defence of our administrators we have had numerous major issues over many years that have required massive dollars to address over recent times. You can only has it a guess as to what HRNSW has had to spent in areas supporting things like Race Feilds - Corporate Bookmakers - Green Lights - Cobalt. It is still ongoing fighting to deliver the best corporate covenance and integrity. One can only imagine what Day & McDowell for instance, is costing the Industry with Legal arguments. What I know is HRNSW is waiting and praying for Taxastion funding from our State Govenment, if and when this comes they will be addressing all areas of Marketing of our sport like never before. Also average stakes increases are also well on the cards especially at the grass roots level. So hopefully The State Govenment acts sooner than later on what was said would happen. Given dollars to work with I feel the people we have in charge will do what needs to be done over a sustained period of time.So let us do our bit by giving positive vibes once we see they are following through by implementing the changes needed.
All the best,
He has been a bit Rich. I guess that was only his 10th start but I thought he may have had a touch of brilliance, maybe he doesn't or may he cannot sustain it further than a mile at this stage.
ps Some good times run at Kilmore tonight considering how blustery it was and the fact that the apparent temp never felt warmer than 3°
4yo mare Beach Shack whose 2nd dam is a half sis to Christian Cullen got within 1sec of the Shep Tk Rec when she rated 1.55.1 in a C1 tonight

3yo Burnaholeinmypocket - WONT, check out this C0 win in 1.54.5 by 20m from the death. The 2nd horse, 3yo Jodis Choice was nevertheless a brilliant run first up for 4½mths coming from last

The Holloway Classic 3yo has attracted a top field at Ballarat tonight
http://www.harness.org.au/fields.cfm...romstate=vic#6
It was a good race run in only 0.6 sec outside the Tk Record. Check it out

having a bit of a tongue wag at the stable the other day and the subject of missing big name horses came up.....we know that the "blaster" is doing stud duties whilst recovering from injury and that the mighty kwin could be on the come back ,and then a few other names that suddenly went missing, namely, restrepo, guaranteed, border control, ginger bliss and a few others also....anybody out there know whats happening with any of these horses ,also i would`nt mind thinking that LJ is looking over the fence at old "trigger" and thinking will i or won`t i.
I believe Restrepo is going to stand at Stud this year.
