border control heading to queensland carnival
anyone out there that`s familiar with the shepparton track.... race 4, 3/6/15 party boy beaten shhd by beach shack...party boy called the winner by race caller, but did say that the finish at shep was tricky.i recorded the race and i have watched it over and over and i can not see how beach shack was awarded the win, but as caller said, tricky finish....now to the next race, young modern beaten by mactera lad by shhd and on watching the replay it was an identical finish to r.4 only this time the horse that looked the winner was awarded the race.have a look guy and gals and see what you think.....i`m puzzled.
They did look very similar Allan and I thought the inside horse had won both times but I did think that Mactera Lad (I cannot believe my blackbooker was $10!) had a couple of inches more margin than Party Boy did.
At the end of the replays they briefly show (be ready to hit pause) the photo finish for the Mactera win and those inches were needed, it is a pity that they do not show the photo for Beach Shack's win

Horses must not mind the cold - it would not have got over 6° at Maryborough today and yet they got within 0.8sec of the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...ic#MHC04061501
Edit: Just watched it myself and it was cold and WET so a great time for a horse that was 3w for last 400
The Apparent Temp is well into the minuses at Ballarat so I hope it does not snow there tonight
yes kev, i did see the black line in race 5 and i am wondering why they displayed it in that race and not race 4 also...a dob of blue tack and a piece of black cotton on the screen using r5 as a guide only convinces me more that party boy won,it would be good to be able to view a print of the photo finish of r4.
Gday Allan. The finish line at Shepparton is actually on the bend. Its still a straight line across the track but very deceiving when watching the races both on course and on the telly. The TV camera is past the post. If you watch a replay and pause it on the line you can see the little box on the outside fence. Draw a line from there to the winning post and you can see how it can be very deceiving.
I was just looking at the results for race 10 at Melton tonight and noticed that according to Harness.org.au that the winner paid $1.80 but that the $1.05 fav ran 7th.
Nice typo as it turns out. That $1.05 fav actually started at $105.00.
Some nice races at Bendigo for Saturday night - a couple of Vicbred Super Series and plenty for you 'trotting' enthusiasts.
I see they have left the Super Mares to the last race - I hope the tactic pays off and people do not go home before the bloody awful R0 which is the 2nd last
I just noticed the Doctor I saw last Friday was the sponsor of the last race at Ballarat tonight - that is a Dr you have to love
I see another case of a suspended trainer's horse now being trained by a relative (in the same town) getting up at Shep tonight
I see the stewards QDT for Joe Taaffe on Glenferrie Hood in the Italian Cup. He was certainly stitched up but maybe punters should not be sending horses out odds on when the driver has only had 2 wins for the season. I know he got a few wins last season but he seemed to have no idea of what was going on at the start of that race
The caller of Semi 1 C&G Breeders Challenge at Menangle had a terrible time of it in the last 300m with the runners, masters, majors getting interchanged. It is a tough gig
I hope he had a stiff bar at the drink afterwards ;)
Lack of local knowledge maybe Kev. I said to Luke on way to track Saturday night.... Lance's horse goes forward and so does Exciteusinthecity. Both best chances of getting in the money. If speed on Cold Major a chance. Glenferrie Hood either gets planted or gets lovely trailing run. He went to fence... got planted. Cold Major wins. Great drive!
Other race chat about. Hotasel best horse in race. Drawn 7 over short (amazing how may times wins). Driven like he the best horse in the race by J. Justice. Win like he best horse in race. Superb drive! Nice horse.
$72 daily double... I on ???
Forgot... also if you watch the start of that race, watch how quickly Jason Lee (Metro Mike) reacts when he sees Lance in front and maybe looking for a trail and also the chance to put the favourite 3 back the fence. No mucking about, take initiative and nearly paid off. Also a great drive by a very talented young driver.
Young Fella on Glenferrie Hood was shaking his head after the race and looking for someone to blame maybe, Missed his chance early to get away from the pegs, So no one to blame except himself IMHO, Some real good drives in the race as you mentioned Paul and just because you are on the favourite doesn't mean the race will be handed to you on a silver platter, There could be 7 or 8 horses in the race that are a chance of taking the prize and driving the favourite always puts a target on your back. It was certainly a race of many chances and Cold Major's odds just staggered me, Time to start punting again!!!
It may be understandable that Robert Watson is having a Reduction Sale as he has some future broodmare prospects in the making
Today's winner of the Princess of the Wimmera - Soho Berlin, is not only a good looking Somebeachsomewhere filly, her mum is a half sister of Sokyola

I skimmed the list and missed her Nate. I thought she was pretty impressive today. I know U30 is a favourite of Rich's as is the closely related Im Victorious so I might have to leave her to him ;)
You pricked my interest so I tried to find a stallion match for her and not many jumped out at me on paper - I wonder who will click with Somebeachsomewhere mares - I think I would try Shadow Play
Kevin...You could possibly go to any of the sons of Cam's Card Shark....starting at the top with Bettors Delight or grandsons like Betterthancheddar, Carribean Blaster.
or sons of Artsplace, again starting at the top with Art Major, or Sportswriter.
Sons of Western Hanover or RocknRoll Hanover would work.
Have a close look at the sons of The Panderosa and I think you'll find that they are disappointinng..ie Ponder, Metropolitan and others.
I looked at the golden crosses on the USTA site for Beach Towel mares...and their descendents. Pretty impressive !
Race 5 at Kilmore tonight will be interesting. 5 scratchings all on the front row leaving a 2 and 6 formation!
We should have made an offer at Horsham that day Nate. She has now won 3 more since then with tonight's win in the Repechage and of course was withdrawn from the sale. She definitley came pretty close to leaving the Watson barn - I doubt she will be going anywhere now
Fancy only being to get 6 acceptors in a C0 at Ballarat on a Saturday night
Great to see Jimmy Castles train and drive a winner today at Menangle, He will be in the good books with his boss, It's their 53rd Wedding Anniversary today.
They raced over 4 different distances at Gloucester Park last Friday night : 1730, 2130, 2536, 3309 - you don't see that very often nowadays.
Shows you what a little pace will do in a race
Check out the finish of the last at Terang tonight

A great 4 way go in what was only a 6 horse field.
It was good to see the horse that went to the death fire up - maybe not for connections or its backers nor the backers of the favourite but for us viewers who are used to seeing small fields result in processions
The winner was $15 despite winning last start and looked absolutely gone at the 500
Some /many weeks ago ( before the Redwood I think) someone wrote information relating to the draws and winning % at Melton, can anyone steer me to the correct thread or date this was place on
Could this be it Bruce
http://www.harnessracingforum.com/sh...ghlight=Melton
Thanks for that Kevin, this is most interesting and even more info however the one that I "think" I read somewhere was as simple at as a example only the actual draw and saying 1-4 won 75% of the races " I think"
I think it was only maybe 6 lines and each line contained the barrier position and the % of wins from that.
While on that,............... has anyone done stats/spreadsheets on "RBD" it almost hurts me to type that ololoolololololol, for Vic and NSW ???:D
When I was a metro attendee (long ago) I remember the race book always had the barriers and number of winners for each.
The few times I used to go to Flemington gallops for a feed I would always base my punt on the table in the race book which told you how long it was since each barrier had won - I always looked for one that was way overdue and made that my selection for the day (or until it came up - if I was lucky)
With a few Tassie horses peforming well in Vic lately I thought I might follow Tassie form next season.
I looked up their calendar and Good God - they only race on Sundays ;)
Makes one realize how lucky we are
This is what I am looking for Kevin , unlike the TB's, I think that it is far more critical to be frank in Harness and the info I was looking for had a summary of just that, but I cant find it now-:( thanks Kylie for your info :)- did you have TAB numbers attached to your spreadsheet when that was done ???
Has anyone else come across this absolute garbage I am getting when you click on a horse to see something( from form) on the HRA site you get CAPTCHA ?- surely if there is a beach in the system they can find something a little more time efficient than that rubbish ? - If everyone is getting the same thing someone must pull someone's coat who thought this crazy up in the offices and say you may have all the time in the world and all the form at your finger tips but not so with the public that want to have a punt
Yep, everyone is getting it Bruce - it is a pain in the arse!
It amounts to 3 extra clicks (the 3rd is when you pass it again going back to form or starters) plus a robot check delay.
You have to wonder how necessary it is
I just sent the CEO an email regarding another matter, if everyone is in agreement about this being a pain - maybe we had better send him another
I agree we gather all that we can to send emails to all those on this one, maybe they could make transparent WHY there has been a breach or is this another job for the boys so to speak, the Thoroughbreds and Greyhounds must be sitting back laughing at Harness on this one, can you image how many will give up and forget having a bet or even being interested if you cant pull up the FULL Form or Breeding with the single click what a backward move on all accounts:mad::(
I repeat, "this is a pain in the arse" for now I have found you can get a symbol amongst the characters that does not resemble any writing I know!
TIP: If you have this happen to you have to guess and fail to get another set of characters as you cannot request another set
I believe this has been done to protect the database. What's there now is a huge improvement over the pictures of food you had to click on originally.
Also told it was done due to a threat from the "Ashley Madison" hackers. Believe they threatened to reveal all of Richard Priors horse interests to his wife!! :D:D:D
