2.7 secs off the Bendigo Tk Rec
Ride High goes 1.49
4yo Struve is an impressive looking type and made it 8 wins from 16 starts at Kilmore tonight
He won by 33m and his time of 1.57.5 was very good when you consider the Tk Rec is 1.56
The track might be fast tonight as another lightly raced 4yo Auckland Red was only 1.5 secs outside the Tk Rec over the short trip when he brought up his 4th win (4 in a row) from 16 starts in the first (the effort of Celestial Gossip to run 2nd from the death was very impressive too)

Cash N Flow makes it 3 sub 1.50's in a row (the 2nd time has done this)
and ELEVEN in a row < 1.50.7

It has to be a good track at Terang as they had plenty of rain and we still had a Track Record
No, it wasn't Ride High in R2 but rather 3yo Major Jodi in the last
She rated 1.56.1 for the 2180 proving a surprise against 3 fancied runners. That is 0.4 off the record
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#TEC12092006
It really has become crazy when we have 2yo fillies on debut getting within 1.6 secs of the open age record winning by 19m untouched at a track like Shep
Rogue Wave

From the same stable on the same day another 2yo on debut got within 2.5 secs of the Tk Rec at Horsham (but lost the race on protest)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#HSC17092007
1.54.8 at Cranbourne is a great MR especially by a 3yo filly having her first start (Tk Rec is 1.53.5)
Rockaround The Clock is beautifully bred with her dam Spred It Around being a half sis to Terror To Love
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#CRC27092006
Still 2yo Idyllic equalled the Geelong Tk Rec for 2100m (MR 1.55.6) at Geelong today
Idyllic is a full bro to Petacular - 2yo & 3yo Australian Filly of the Year
I know the owner of the 2nd horse is pretty pleased with his progress
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#GEC09102006
First of all Bopper Jet in the Claimer (R1) and then more notably 3yo Boots Electric in the last were not far outside the Kilmore 1690m Tk Rec of 1.53.4
(The other 3yo in the field Dancing With Flo was impressive too as it held on for second)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=KI141020
1.53.2 at Ballarat is a serious time
3yo filly Art of Sheng Li has now won her last 3 starts (a respectable 4th at her first start back in December is her only loss)
She comes from the very strong dam line of Patrician which includes Thefixer
There are plenty of delights to be found behind the little + boxes in the following link

On my nostalgia trip still, I read that Tara Meadow was the first horse to break 2.00 minutes in Victoria (1970 TT) and what surprised me was the fact that she did not start racing until she was 5yo - a bit different from these times of speedy 2yo's
A great mare, bold chestnut and one that got me hooked on the trots. Took her record in a time trial at Ballarat. George Gath officially trained her and drove her. She won a heat of the 1970 ID at the Melbourne Showgrounds and made the final. Her son Tara King (by Aachen) was Australia's highest priced yearling when sold at the Wright Stephenson Melbourne yearling sale for $17,000. While not a topliner he was a pretty handy horse for Rex Hocking.
Good memories.
One of Emma Stewart's second string 2yo's No Motive (no wins from 6 starts) runs 1.54.9 at Geelong, only 0.7 outside the Tk Rec - it is however quite an old record being set 3yrs ago
She is well bred with mum being a half sis to Courage To Rule ($523k, a Vic Derby and a couple of NZ 2yo Gp1 2nds to Smiling Shard)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#GEC30102009
3yo filly Aldabaran Tess smashed Tornado Valley's Maryborough Tk Rec when she rated 1.57 for 2190m
https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/art...ious-heat-win/
You have to sympathize with Ron Angel, owner of 2yo Major Angel. His colt has probably run the 2nd fastest time for the card at Shep tonight, just as he did at Yarra Valley last week AND yet all his 2yo has to show for it, is two 2nds
Gee the 2yo's have been quick this season
(I am of course aware that in any other year we would be calling them 3yo's now)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#SPC12112007
Gloucester Park was on fire last night with Vampiro breaking the track record for 2536 metres in 1:54:1.
WOW!
Just turned 3yo, Bondi Lockdown comes out in a 4 horse race at Charlton this morning (yes Morning as they started early to beat the heat)
AND he wins by 67m and sets a new TK REC for 2100m while rating 1.55
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#CHC11012106
His 2nd dam Innocent Eyes boast a Chariots Of Fire among her 18 wins
Catching up on Magnificent Storm's win at GP on Friday. Pretty dam easy for a run that was only 0.1 outside the Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#GPM29012103
ps For a non-punter I was fortunate enough to have a couple of dollars on Bondi Lockdown (previous post) at good odds on Saturday
The Geelong track had to be fast tonight
The Tk Rec for 1609m is 1.54.2
so to have three races run at < 1.56 is quick
Especially Goodtime Grace who went 1.54.6
(The runs of the placegetters was just as good)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#GEC03022101
A new track record at Swan Hill tonight
Macelli takes it coming from the 5 spot up the sprint lane in 1.53.4
But only a nose away was Pocket Thedeal who was wide before death-seating
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#FDC09022101
Monaro Mara's 1.55.8 for 1690m took a chunk off the old Tk Rec for trotters at Shep
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#SPC10022107
I am not sure what the Tk Rec was before this post in Jan last year but as I said that LA took over 2 secs off the record, I have some recollection that it was 1.50.7 (the Hamilton record I refer to is 1.50.6)
Why I bring this up is to wonder whether any other horse (other than Self Assured that finished about 5m behind LA in the Bonanza) has broken 1.50 at Melton. I have to say my memory is average
Eureka's 1.52.6 last night is a serious time but 5/6 runners would have been < 1.53
A good night for Lauriston in both states
Honolua Bay took a whole second off the Terang Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#TEM20022103
Geelong reignites the Rocket
https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/art...eelong-rocket/
And are rewarded with a new Tk Rec of 1.53.6 by Mach Dan
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#GEC26022101
Not your normal post for this thread
From the Menangle Trials today
Crunch Time went 1.50.7 for the mile
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...T#MEQ170321T02
Anntonia breaks the Bathurst Tk Rec going 1.52.1 to demolish them in the Gold Bracelet
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#BHC27032103
Both Techys Angel and Wolf Stride broke the Wagga Tk Rec in the Gp1's today but the former holds the mark as she went faster
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=EY040421
And at Warragul Perfect Stride took a fair chunk off their Tk Rec in the Cup
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#WRC04042101
Honolua Bay SMASHED the Geelong mile record going 1.51.9
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#GEM17042102
Steel Screens held it briefly after going 1.53.5 in R5
ps Congratulations Anne. I also remember you mentioning how much you liked his full sister whom you just sold at the Nutrien Sale
A great front running effort by Boots Electric in the SA Cup running 1.57.2 for the long trip which was only 0.4 outside Smolda's Tk Rec
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#GDC17042101
Thank you, she is a nice filly. I love the Somebeachsomewhere - Artsplace cross. He puts that awesome Direct Scooter speed into his progeny. Two brothers won last night: Rocknroll Icon and Honolua Bay and we had a first starter Irish Black Label score too.
From the US
Soho Burning Love now has a record of 1.48.2
Im Sir Blake now has a record of 1.49.2
Gardys Legacy now has a record of 1.49
http://www.harnesslink.com/New-Zeala...-19th-May-2021
I keep forgetting the Americans' strange timing system so Soho has actually rated/run 1.48.4 in our language
I have rarely watched any US racing, I can't get excited about 1 mile single file stuff but watching the replay and reading the times for that race, it was amazing to see her as leader most of the way still finishing off with a Q of 25.4 (Aussie timing)
She left here as a top 4yo who raced in all the Gp races and now as a 6yo is probably much stronger but finishing off races that fast - I guess a 55.6 (Aus) first half is called stacking them up over there (Always B Miki's WR 1.46 was run 52.4/53.6)
I know the track is 200m bigger than Menangle but I think her fastest time over here would have been her 7m 4th in the 2019 Ladyship Mile where she was 1x1 all the way and pretty much stayed the same distance behind leader and winner Dream About Me who ran 1.50.1 coming home in 26.6, so Soho would have been < 1.51 that night
3yo Runway Celebrity's 1.53.5 was pretty impressive at Ballarat tonight
It was only her 3rd start and that is only 2.8 secs outside the Tk Rec
Even at 6.30pm the temperature was already down to 4.6° with a feels like temp of only 1.6°
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#BAC04062105
6yo This Is The Plan (Somebeachsomewher) set a World Record as the fastest horse to ever win on a half-mile track when he won the $200,000 Battle of Lake Erie in 1:47.3 (1.47.6 Au) Saturday (June 5) at MGM Northfield Park. Pet Rock's record stood for 8yrs.
http://ustrottingnews.com/this-is-th...-record-147-3/
This is our own better link
https://harnesslink.com/usa/this-is-...-of-lake-erie/
as it provides a replay link - thankfully for I cannot get Northfield Park replays to work on my computer
Can anybody else get Northfield Park to work on the following link
https://www.ustrotting.com/trackside...trackfacts.cfm
Thanks Paul, this is a link to Northfield Park which has a replay link that works
https://mgmnorthfieldpark.mgmresorts...racetrack.html
Blowing my own trumpet now, the USTA Tracks page, which is how you get to replays (Boy have we got it easy in Oz), has now changed the Northfield Park link
I managed to get an email to them via USTA (see my post in USA thread to know that this is not as easy as it should be - Americans seem to want phone calls)
American import Aldebaran Revani broke the Australian record for trotting mares when she won easily in 1.53.9 at Menangle yesterday
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#PCC31082108
It was the 4yo's 4th win in a row from only 5 Australian starts
