I was surprised to see such a slow pace in W.A.P/Cup because of the high pressure style of racing in W.A.you can't get away with it.Everyone loves to witness a fast mile rate but it doesn't mean a lot.Washakie won 2 weeks ago rating 1.56.3 over 2506 metres, you would think that being a strong stayer he would be a good thing mile rating 4 secs slower, even though he breezed. As for ITMQ maintaining present form and given just a smidgen of luck he'll storm over the top of them.

Hi Maorisidle
Ronerail was a top run and I wouldnt get off him I Can Doosit to good on the night. Look most Pacers would have had trouble trying to run Ronerail down last night Buster is right I Can Doosit had a nice faverable run but thats racing

I would have to say Ronerail has one of the best sprints in the square-gaiters.
Before this race he ran a mile race winning in 1.56.6. in that same race he was about 8m behind the leader at the 400m pole in the 1/1. he beat that horse by 4m, so in effect made up 12m and the last 400m was trotted in 27.9. There aint too many trotters who can do that, that's good sprinting in an Aussie/NZ kinda way.
He also showed his versatility the week before that breaking the track record at Globe Derby Park from a stand, rating 2.02.6 over 2645m, and running the last quarters in 29.6, 29.2
He can stay, he can sprint.

just needed a faster quarter when purdon made his move to get him chasing rather then jogging up
31,30,28,29 he wins
prentice summed it up before wa cup perfectly, 'if they run 1.57 i cant win because you just cant make up ground, but if they run 2.00 then ill win.
-
I think Kim Prentice was covering all posts regarding IMTQ in W.A Cup because the horse came from 40 metres last 3 wide to win the Fremantle Pacing Cup at a 1.57.5 mile rate and in the SEW Euro Drive Vic Cup From last on the turn 5 wide to run 3rd-a certainty beaten at a 1.55.9 mile rate.
-
prentice was totally correct in his theory, he just used a bad example of times, he should have said 1.53/4...1.57 isnt that fast for that class, they ran a solid lead time at melton but then a half in 61 and a 61 half in fremantle cup means they get home in 55/6 which distorts the overall time
andddddd that scenario plays right into the hands of horses with the most electrifying speed in the race- ITMQ

Just watch BRUCE ALMIGHTY for next years WA PACING CUP.
He will be the next revelation of WA Harness Racing.
-
Purdon's trotter is better than you guy's give credit. Ronerail just got beat by a better horse on the night and don't be suprised if i can doosit win's a big one over there
-
I agree I CAN DOOSIT he is a gun, he won a race at auckland 2700m in 2.00.2.
He would have won first up here if he didnt gallop.

Latemail_cam, you have no idea about Western Australian harness racing.
