Does anybody know who has won the most Grand Circuit races ever?
Perhaps Ash (Maorisidol) could get the stats books out and let us know. I hear he has some spare time on his hands now as he has been forced to give up his hobby of Quinny-bashing.

ITMQ has won most GC races = 11. 7 in Perth against FFA opposition and locals who dont even go East...and was given an ID in NZ when he didnt actually win the race...:)
Now Brycey, u still havent replied to my ID post after you particularly invited me and singled me out to "put my head up" in your ID WAKE thread...
Quinny the Great, a phenomena in the modern era of harness racing - no doubt going to be the Grand Circuit champion again this year.
Can't believe this thread has only had 2,206 views, should be 20,000. Obviously a lot out there still can't stomach the thought of ITMQ being the greatest.
Ash, I notice you're still on about W.A. horses who don't even go east as you say. Can you blame them, when archaic flight arrangements means a half way trip around the world to either get there or
return home. A farcical situation when the only option open to ITMQ, I'V and MMM was a twelve hour trip to Melbourne and then wait for a flight to Perth, or, three hours to NZ and then home.
No wonder Tony Svilicich is not keen to race his horses over east and decided on a three day road trip across the Nullabor to Perth. With all the stake money in Perth it isn't necessary to venture away
but if you want our horses over there, improve your travelling arrangements. Just a little reminder how tough our horses are over here; MMM gets off float on Wednesday, back at GP Friday winning over
2536 metres in 1:56:7 - an amazing horse.
Hello Ashley( I presume),
Back in those days Pure Steel, Village Kid, Preux Chevalier did spend extended
periods in the east because flights from Perth to Melbourne and particularly Sydney were so few they were almost non existent. The big money back then, was in the east, but not so much these days. Pretty good explanation me thinks.
Hey Paul....
Is that your inquisitive son asking all these questions again. Is he or you a Denzel Washington fan???
Being by Washington VC I suspected but didn't know for sure so I asked a local man here who should know...his breeder Dave Kennedy.
To set the record straight I phoned the breeder Dave Kennedy and then e.mailed the man who bought him originally from Dave as a weanling, Richard Aubrey who onsold him to Peter Bagrie his original racing trainer prior to his on sale to one G Hall Snr. The rest is history as they say.
Below is what I found out.....
(E.mail copied...)
Greetings…
I am trying to settle point of discussion.
I have spoken to Dave Kennedy (breeder) who tells me that itwas you, not him who named the great horse THEMIGHTYQUINN.
Can you please tell me how he came to be so named?
Cheers
Tony Cahill
HiAnthony
Thanksfor your message It will be good to clear this up I've heard the storymisreported
A number of times. We purchased tmq at a mixed stock sale in Christchurch Wewanted to call him Denzel Washington but that name was taken so we looked upthe names of the movies he had starred in Themightyquinn stood out to me as myearly recollections of trotting were seeing Young Quinn racing he wasalso referred to as Themightyquinn.so that's what we went with the rest ishistory
Hopethis answers your question

This link shows the breeding record of his dam...Love Sign.
Hey Paul
Themighty...sumfin is called Themightykendall. She is retained by Dave Kennedy (breeder).
She lines up tomorrow here at Winton NZ in a qualifying trial. Her First try.
She won a learners workout just last Saturday at Invercargill..running 2200m mobile 3:04.00 ..59.0..28.4. Time is not really relevant here as learners heats are for education and times restrictions are set for these so you can't go too fast.
[QUOTE=aussiebreno;26308]There is also Themightynadal according to HRA website.
Yeah Snr bought him from last year's Chch Premier Sales. NZ $65k
He was sold as a rig. Don't know what they have done with him.

Seems we forgot about the little grey fella Brycey...

[QUOTE=Maorisidol;26321] No, I was talking about grand circuit wins. Grand circuit and Group 1 are different things.
You have missed something - it happens often with you when assessing ITMQ - as evidenced over the last few months and here again today ;)
You posted the link for the list of Group 1 winners. That is a different thing to the Grand Circuit. Here is the grand circuit list

pretty sure decampo had the full brother for a prep or 2 and wasnt showing much...dont know if thats still the case.
She qualified running 3.06.6 for 2400mts M.R. 2.05 and ran 4th beaten about 5 length's. That's her time not the winner.
Just reading had first hobble today and all good. Also Alto Christiano in Monday Gloucester Park.
Hi Paul,
And good to see Soho Valencia returning Friday night at G.P. Gotta say I'm a bit stunned with Alta Christiano racing on Monday!
Just saw this Rod
Chris Barsby Michael Radley @mickradley
"Boom 3YO Elegant Christian is nominated to clash with comeback pacer and last years WA Derby winner Alta Christiano @GloucesterPark Monday"
Fields not up yet.
Cheers
Fields come out 3pm WA time today.
Not for the first time, but reports that Quinny is to be retired.
G'day Breno, Yes I heard an interview with Snr and he was saying that Quinny's in a fair bit of pain due to a bit of arthritis around the fracture he had in his back leg a while back and wasn't real confident of the horse making it back which is extremely sad. Come on Quinny, One more preparation and a few wins for your legion of fans, Come on mate, 1 more!!
I as well would want to see ITMQ go on for a little longer, but he has nothing left to prove.
Exactly right Ev, Been there, Done that and old Father Time is certainly knocking at the door. Snr and his team have done a wonderful job get Quinny back to the track from some devastating injuries and it certainly tells you how strong minded the horse is.
It's official that Quinny has retired according to Chris Barsby's Twitter..
Thanks for the memories Quinny, and the amazing duels you had with my fav horse Trigger! 2 Champs retired within a few months of each other.. So true Richard, regarding Father Time...
