I know I am being picky with this one but surely
Penonetwentysix a 2yo having his first start at Ararat tonight could have been given a better moniker
Imagine if everybody used this method for naming
Being Village Jolt x Perfect Thoughts
There were heaps of possibles
'Dreamtown' for one
Penonetwentysix would have been good if the sire was P Forty Seven
I knew that Kyle but just imagine how many horses we could have beginning with pen or lot
Thought of better than Dreamtown - Dreamville or Shockproof
How the hell did they get through the name "FCEE"? Fc stands for f@#king C@#t in most texting circles. Unbelievable.
I will follow that one up for you David
They are forever changing the names of NZ imports - they have a good excuse to do so for this one
Gotta Go Electobet
Bettors Delight x Elect To Live
Beginning everything you breed with Gotta Go - cannot always work IMO
Misspelled/bad grammar names are the worst
Your Excused
His A Tease
etc
Add the winner of the first at Bendigo to that list Katie - Your Nicked
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...ic#BNC09061813
but there was one of my least favourites going around which IMO is a far worse thing to do to a horse
Illcryifhewinds
Your Nicked is not a bad moniker derived from "by LAWMAN USA out of ARRESTIN TESS".
The name brings back memories of the old British police series, "The Bill".
I think our naming rules Kev don't permit the correct spelling/grammar Kev.
I cannot believe that Dot - you might not be able to have the apostrophe but you can have Youre or You Are or Youare
Well I guess perhaps then Kev most owners don't have your interest in spelling and grammar and concern themselves more with how the name sounds during a race then how it appears in print.
But You're and Your sound the same (with or without the apostrophe) I cannot help it :( One of my careers was in teaching
The apostrophe isn't allowed Kev, and I guess a lot of trotting folk are like me, mind on the horses and not on the teacher in the classroom.
There was a horse called "Pillow Biter" , don't know how it hadn't made the list yet. Google it if you don't know what it means !
Hahaha that’ll be interesting
There are about 7 horses with names that start with "IFU SEEK". Just another way of saying "If You See Kaye" . Say it fast and you get F U C .... well you know the rest !
Hmmm the late Graeme Rice would seem to have put one (7 actually) over the studbook master
I submitted "Muckingrefarkable" to the syndicate manager as one of my naming choices in a horse. Not hard to say after a few playful attempts. I don't think it passed the syndicate manager who rang to see if I had a dose of FITHs' disease? Oh well I thought it was funny ....... and muckingrefarkable is making ......
This IS NOT a facepalm name but I thought this was as good a place as any to ask this question
It has taken me 25 starts to spot but I am wondering about the naming of
Aint No Lombo = Lombo Mandingo x Come Forth
He clearly is a Lombo. Maybe they are simply referring to the fact that he does not belong to Mick. Or maybe the namer just likes the many sayings that begin with 'Ain't No'.
Just curious. Anyone know?
I don't "know" Kev, but "Notjustanotherama" is an earlier foal by "Panorama", as is "Shezacomin" by "Fully Loaded", I reckon its a bit of naming fun, that's about it.
Yeah, thanks Dan, there is a bit of a fun naming pattern going on there
How about a bit of name swapping
I noticed an old horror in Frank The Duck was number 1 in race 10 tonight
and decided to look at his breeding again for a clue - none
but I did notice Silent Growl, number 1 in race 11 would seem to have a better name for his breeding
so I looked at her breeding and found that it could semi justify a duck name
Frank The Duck is from Take Her Easy Tiger
x
Silent Growl is from Swanline
The "Silent Growl" from "Swanline" is no doubt derived from the species of swans known as the "Mute Swan".
No doubt Steve but Silent Growl would sure suit a Take Her Easy Tiger foal too and I was sort of trying to find an excuse for someone to call a horse Frank The Duck :D
Freddy Fudpucker
Withoutthetuh winner of a heat of the Vicbred Platinum for the 2yoC last night
Without the tuh
Can anybody explain the meaning to me?
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#BAC16051912
I can only ask those responsible - "WTF???"
Peel My Grapes
It doesn't sound like the name for an animal that you love
IFITSTOBEITSUPTOME I cannot believe this name was allowed - such disrespect for the racecallers
Names are limited to 19 letters but this is 8 words that the caller is expected to say
If I was a caller, I would just shorten it to IF
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...20#SPC26042006
and it was Blake Redden's tip in the Form Analysis
One of our posters who is excellent at choosing names, spotted this one going around in the gallops in Sth Africa
Pharr Canal
Not really a Facepalm name but it seems ironic that a 2yo Trotter called Rogue Gentleman could start $2 fav

First starter today at Bendigo The Black Horse is listed as a Brown gelding
Impressed with Tailored Elegance on Saturday, I decided to take a look at the NZ Oaks
In the race there was a filly name Scrappylittlenobody
Clearly owners not wanting a champ
