Well said Rich! Give your horses at least some chance Lance, & more importantly, don't make them retire before there due time due to the obvious.
Didn't know where to put this post. I just found out that Ginger Bliss was put down in October. Such very sad news :(
Was a serious talent! Feel free to put this in the correct category fellas.
P.s Agreed Rich!
Favourite punters would have done very nicely for themselves at Mildura tonight
as we saw 6 faves and 2 second faves win on the 8 race program
Although we did not see a winner pay more than $3.20, the faves were not ridiculously short either with the shortest winners being $1.60 and $1.90

LOL
It does seem as though the faves are more reasonable prices without them around
Noel, what was with the Bendigo weather today (20/1) as I see they pulled the pin on holding Bendigo dogs (not that I care about the dish-lickers), looking at the BOM for Bendigo it would not seem to be anything out of the ordinary
It was very humid in Bendigo with some morning showers, with a top of 34.
It's still 34. I don't know what the max is for cancellation of the greyhounds.
It's Country Week cricket here this week, and I went to an oval close by around 11. They were playing. so the showers didn't affect them.
Can't explain the dog cancellations.
From GRV:
Today’s afternoon meeting at Bendigo has been officially abandoned during kennelling when the temperature exceeded 26 degrees in the race kennels. The professional view of the on-track veterinarian was that these conditions were too hot for the Bendigo meeting to continue.
Thanks Noel - interesting that 26 in the kennels is considered too high
I dont think Ideal Tyson will ever start $1.04 in Vic again.
Interesting to here the caller say that the winner was a quarter of those odds in NSW

Bendigo gallops and harness on the same day is strange programming
Newcastle had the same today... Both Day meetings as well
Ballarat had the same thing on Sunday
I wonder whether the Minister is aware of such lack of co-ordination/communication. Joking of course. I wonder whether he has even one staffer observing anything other than what is raised in the media
It felt like the old Cramptown racing at Mildura tonight with the first 7 favourites getting up - 6 of them odds on
The difference however was that the closest to domination was Colin Rogers training a double

I hope we can get the balance right between catering for the French interest in our trotting and clubs planning - late changes could be a bugbear
How hot is it going to be at Ouyen at 4.25, the time of the first.
It is already nudging 40° there at one o'clock
It has not got any hotter but it has not got any cooler
I think I will turn it on and see if the omen bets in the first do any good
Not Kool Kenny and Singed
HRV's start time, still showing 4.25 when it is 4.33
4.33 with a Goulbourn trot at 4.35 just asking for clashes
Delay...no Clerks of Course
I believe they were found at nearby Lake Tyrrell
The Ouyen Cup has certainly been decimated.
All Craig Rail's place selections have been scratched!
Probably one of the weakest open company races you will ever see going around for $30k
Uncle wingnut has won $200k, a couple of the other 5 might take their prizemoney up near $100k if they win
How many of the country cups have suffered the same fate as Ouyen....with not many horses going around for a lot of money.
Ouyen 6 starters
Cranbourne 7 starters
Charlton was better with 10
Terang had 11
Bendigo had 6 ( Lenny scared them away)
Ballarat had 12
Hamilton had 11
Shepparton had 12
Wonder what Kilmore will get.
Lenny is going to Kilmore too so you might not get each way betting there either
Goulburn had trots today while the Black Opal/Cup was on in Canberra
I really am having grandpa moments. I obviously forgot I posted this about the winner in the Speed Explosion thread little more than a week ago
"I just had a look at it too. IMPRESSIVE
He might not have placed in his previous 10 starts in NZ but have a look at who he was racing against! (And he did win 9 of 10 if you go back further)

I know it is easy in hindsight but having Horsham's feature today, the Gp3 Tontine Trotters final, within 3min of the Adelaide Cup was always going to see it bumped to Sky 2
Make sure you catch trots at Broken Hill on Ch 520 tonight - their only TAB meet on one of the tiniest tracks in the land
Dont Think Twice's win in the Tiara (covering for you New South Welshmen again) puts now deceased sire Armbro Operative back in the spotlight. It has been a couple of years since he had a 50k earner and he has only ever had one Million dollar earner (Fleur de Lil)

Fifty years of race calling today for Victorian broadcaster Peter Eustace...not a bad innings!
Fillies night tomorrow night at Melton. 7 of the 11 races are for them. The Jodie's Babe, 3 Oaks heats and 3 APG heats
http://www.harness.org.au/fields.cfm...&fromstate=vic
It would seem as though we are not the only ones having trouble filling fields - the first five races at Pakenham gallops tonight had fields of 5 - 7
Pouring rain too...the drought has broken.
Perhaps they will need to rely on trainers "this" side of town to fill their fields. Not sure many will be keen to be on the Monash in peak hour for a 6pm start each week.
What are the most wins on a card at Melton and will that change with Emma Stewart tonight?
Lombo Rapida, Wenbro.. the first batch of horses I am old enough to remember watching go around.
Our old friend the HRA website informs us that Andy Gath actually trained five winners at MV in September 2001. Brent Lilley has also prepared five winners at Melton.
Bob Knight and Tubby Peace also prepared five winners each in town.

How things have changed at Mildura
Only 3 odds on faves with the last of them getting up at $1.80
All other winners were between $3.60 and $7.80
