Amanda T and Craig D not deterred by any clouds hanging over their heads - win the first 2 races at Melton tonight
here is a lovely article: http://harnessnews.com.au/2017/01/bi...gacy-lives-on/
Thanks Katie Have always liked him just for his name. There are a couple of BJ's at the Perth Sale however Canada is a long way to commute
I just noticed that in last night's 2yo at Geelong, Peter Manning trained 5 out of the 6 starters
Did he win it?

Mach Three died :( :( :(
A real pity, thankfully he left some pretty good replacements. His sons I imagine will be in greater demand ? good for the breeding industry
Above average money on offer at Boort today

Whilst Lazarus continues on his winning way it may be worth noting the performace of the horse who got closest to beating him as a 3yo last season on any number of times they met. When you compare the performance of Lazarus on a roomy and fast 1200 metres Addington in the NZ Cup running a world record 3:53.1 for 3200metres off the front in a stand start. Mile rate 1:57.2, 800 in 55.3 and 400 27.1 against the cream of the crop.
Yesterday on the egg shaped 1000metres track at Invercargill, the aforementioned horse Classie Brigade ran 3200 metres off 30 metre handicap 3:53.5, mile rate 1:57.4, 800 in 55.3, 400 in 26.5 Naturally a track and race all comers record
When the cat's away.........
Hughie Green, wow, well that was an effort in defeat on Friday night.....
All the work 3 wide/breeze and beaten by talented Three Ways who had the cold sit on them. wins because Heavenly Trend wasnt going well enough to hold the back of Hughie to keep Three Ways in. Great performance.
First Quarter: 30.7
Second Quarter: 27.6 Third Quarter: 29.0 Fourth Quarter: 28.5 Mile Rate: 1:54:5
I am glad the price of standardbred horses is realistic - watching the Karaka thoro sale on racing.com today made me think the gallops industry verges on obscene
There would be quite a few hoping that the upcoming APG sales can reach those lofty figures Kev, maybe someone can get in a bidding duel with the Purdon crew, just maybe.
Watch the yellow colours horse behind the green colours horse as he moves out from the rail around horses (I'm Entitled) in this race from the 2:30 to 2:40 mark. Is that legal? Nothing noted in Stewards Report but seemed like the driver barged the outside horse out of the way.

Just a gentle nudge, the race caller even said that the horse was unlucky !!!!! It would never have beaten the eventual winner.
Nudging looks a bit dangerous to me :/ haha

Auckland Reactor got his first Australian winner tonight at Kilmore. I don't think he has got a winner in NZ yet
Gotta React had everything go its way Pat and the death horse was a much better run in a fairly slow race (compared to what we tend to see nowadays)

This race created some controversy at YV (on and off the track apparently)
If you watch it you will see that it was a little different
what the..
The Gods intervened :D
The gallops were supposed to be at Ararat today
AND the trots tonight
RIDICULOUS
however Ararat gallop's irrigation pump packed it in early in the week so the meet was moved to Stawell
Auckland Reactor had a couple of trial winners at Bunbury overnight.
What is ARs pass mark for this season? What will it take for him to get another good book? One star? Two? How many individual winners is a good result from just over 100 live foals in Aus? Breeders are quick to jump ship...

They were the good old days.
I don't think AR sold all that well at the Karaka sales- everyone is saving their money for the big three sires. But if one of his progeny can win a classic race or 2 similar to what happened with Roll with Joe then he may get a good book again.
Saxon Warrior was declared a non-runner in the listed Tontine final at Hamilton today. You have to wonder whether the starters are under pressure to get them away on time (with races breathing down your neck) as it was clear that Christmas Jolt galloping in the score up cost SW a good length and any possibility of settling anything but last
