Interesting Trev, I was thinking Shikoba might be our next skewbald winner but maybe it will be this fella
We missed it - from back on Nov 24

I reckon this would be a great purchase for any retired standardbred fancier. You could stay home all day long admiring their pretty horse without ever having to waste time taking it to the races. Just don't tell your financial adviser.
Personally, the only palaminos I give any notice to are those of the fortified wine variety.
Bay mare Remi is still yet to give Ernie Eldorado a winner but she has another chance today in R1 at Charlton
Have a look below at her first start on the 8th of March 2021
The 3 that beat her have since notched up 16 wins and 31 places while Remi has not been able to run a drum

On that performance Remi does not have the Magic to win a $7k race
Watching more 'trots' races nowadays
Loved the look of My High Peak
Doesn't a flaxen mane make a chestnut look flashy

Most unlucky by the way
Best of All - Liver Chestnut with a Flaxen mane
I am thinking that 2yo first starter at Cobram tomorrow, Hurricane Ben, is already a disappointment
By an ordinary stallion out of a skewbald mare - he is a bay
But I reckon, I would be wrong. Peter Anderson - owner/trainer/driver is showing me up big time - getting out there and just doing it at 84

Being the nerd that I am, I went looking through White Lion's pedigree for the source of his cream colouring and found "A Bit Of Bling's" and his sire's so X2 maternal line going back to "Snow Craig" 1948, she by "ICEVUS" a well performed Cream horse who was a younger full brother to "EVICUS" the mare that was the first Interdominion Champion in Perth in 1936, even though she didn't win a single race through the series. Logan Derby won all his heats and the final however only a mathematician could tell you how a points system could give the Title to EVICUS.
The title bestowed on Evicus is still a matter of considerable debate in harness racing circles. Incredibly, she won the title without winning a heat or the final. On the other hand Logan Derby won all three of his heats and the final but lost the title due to the curious points system used at the championship. Points were allocated on the basis of 3, 2, 1 for the placegetters plus 3, 2, 1 for the fastest times. Evicus had amassed more points from her 24 yard handicap than Logan Derby did from scratch. Subsequently, Evicus was awarded the title and the one hundred pound gold cup but shared the prizemoney with the luckless Logan Derby. Some historians, however, set aside the judges decision and simply record the grand final placings: Logan Derby 1st, Evicus 2nd, Nancywood 3rd.
Great stuff Dan!
Here is HRV's story about Evicus's relative going around tomorrow
If you watch the trial at the bottom (from before Christmas AND SLOW) you will see that he looks much darker now

I tuned in early on Trots Vision for White Lion's race (which was put back one race) and you would think with a palomino having his first start the cameraman might put the camera on him - NO THAT WOULD REQUIRE INTELLIGENCE. Instead we had several horses allocated a full minute of camera time BUT NOT THE NOVELTY ATTRACTION
It is a pity for although he had no luck early his performance suggested we may not see a lot of him racing - very harsh I know based on one performance but it is generally the way with coloured horses.
Just watched the replay Kev he looked like he fired up coming out of the gate, which can happen when they are a bit green and bring them undone, hopefully that gets sorted and he will get to do a bit more with al the education he has received. The breeder Kerrie Hymers got a winner earlier in race 2 "Shikoba" piebald got up on protest after being second past the post by a head.
Wow, I didn't even notice Shikoba won Dan - I have followed her since her first start and thought she would be a winner one day but it has taken 33 starts

White Lion has now been scratched.
Terang last night
It is a pity he does not go as well as he looks - he looks like a Superhero
LOL a new way to lose without having a bet
Left home for Hamilton about 10
I wanted to see the palomino White Lion
Had planned to shop and lunch in town before seeing a few races
Running late leaving town but tell my wife we only need to get there before WL’s race
Get there in time for the race before but just have a cuppa in the car park before going in
Bloody Hell he has been scratched (Again)
Leave in disgust - nearly at Dunkeld now
I had checked scratchings before leaving but not after 10 - never again
EDIT Home now and just see that he was a Late Scratching - I could not have won. Well going to Stawell for shopping with 45mins of driving v 3hrs for Hamilton would have been a win
Sounds like you had a great day Kev.......NOT.
Hahaha
Not bad really - I love going to Hamilton through Victoria Valley and we saw this guy along the way
We stopped about 20m from him and were amazed that he was not frightened by the car.
Eventually he jogged along the road and took flight
Wow , your day was great in that case , could be even better than the trots , hahaha
He is beautiful .
We get heaps of Wedge tails here , as we are in the bush , up the top of the hill & on acres we get all sorts of birds . I feed heaps of them .
Yes we are very lucky with the birds and the wildlife - I always tell people that I bet I can find you a kangaroo within 1 minute of going out my door
I think I have only seen a wild eagle on the ground a couple of times. I was surprised the car did not scare him off (we observed him for at least a minute) but later Jen told me that he was probably waiting for us to move on as there was a dead rabbit near her car door :D
The Trittons have a colored Irish horse that they hope to break 1.50 with
