I can't stand the bloke. He calls everyone by a nickname and barely lets the co host talk. I really like watching the show but can't watch when he is on. I would be happy to see J Bon P off !

We are no doubt the wrong demographic but he could do with some training LOL I have seen him referred to elsewhere as the Walking Ego - there certainly is a lot of I in what he talks about (mostly his bets last night)
JB is good at manifesting excitement but when it is pitched at that level too long you do need to take a break from him. With the producers not doing it for us, I found myself switching off and on a bit tonight - Menangle having some big races was a real blessing
I can see what Trevor means about the nicknames - tonight they were constant, constant, constant (although I think he may have called Chris Alford - Christopher for a change)
It was great to have pretty much continuous coverage from Maryborough today for the trotters breeders crown heats but to be professional we really needed another camera. A huge percentage of the telecast was really audiocast as we never saw Paul Campbell or anyone that he interviewed. A fixed camera on a microphone position for interviewees would have made us go from Ch31 standard to commercial channel standard, if for some reason this is not as simple as it sounds well then a fixed camera on the parade ring/stables area would have been better than an empty home straight or the semaphore board
We have no sound on TrotsVision other than Dan's call for R1
They are continuing on as if they didn't know
They have done 100's of meetings from Melton - it should be clockwork by now!
We only heard a goodbye "Cheers" from Glenn Douglas's interview - probably enough
We have not been able to hear as to whether there is a reason that we have only male hosts tonight
I am not sure why we need 3 on the desk when we are using Dan a lot and have Gareth on track
(although it is certainly stopping Jason from dominating)
I have been told "HRV and Mediatec send replays to Sky Racing / TAB from meetings", so I am pretty certain Sky don't produce our TrotsVision content so I cannot see how we can blame them for no audio. I reckon we could do with an old fashioned "Testing, testing, testing 1,2,3 " maybe a half hour before the meet just in case we have a rogue Sky worker pulling out one of our plugs. We did see a worker go into the Broadcast box after Dan had called R1
Why do TrotsVision leave it until the last second to roll
eg Horsham R1 today - we missed the very start.(by no means a rarity)
Unprofessional
I am guessing this is a Bendigo initiative (or Elmore?), TrotsVision have a continuous program with Paul Campbell MCing (instead of just race telecasts)
and good camera work for interviews and parade ring
That this was happening tonight should have been promoted on the HRV homepage!
Jason, Kirsten, Steve, Gareth and Dan was a really well balanced production last night - congratulations to all
Very good to see an ad for TrotsVision on the racing.com telecast
No audio for the last at Kilmore (switched to TAB and they had it)
While on the point of audio - why is it that it is almost the norm to not have any audio until the mobile is well and truly rolling
No audio for the first at Cranbourne (Sky/TAB had it)
Really becoming amateur hour of late
Bozo in the red cap needs another job, like in the hot dog van. Too matey and could not attract new followers to the game.
I didn't watch the full coverage tonight - just tuned in for the races
Surprised to hear that about Milesy as over the last year he has been involved with some super informative stuff eg how he selects and measures yearlings, how he works rising 2yo's
The young lady is Nikkita Ross, who is on the panel most of the time. You're right about her being very good
Semis night and Jason Bonnington's mic is not working, compared to Nikkita, Rob and everyone else - he is all echo
Most annoying that we struggle to get audio spot on
Much improved after R4 but I suspect a contributing factor is that with JB seated in the middle but with his mic on his right lapel, his audio deteriorates when he turns to the left to talk to Rob
Trouble with the audio again on our big night, I thought I heard Dan say pre R1 that he was getting a bit annoyed with it (I hear but also read lips so without any video of Dan, I may have misheard) - and then the interview with R1 winning driver Greg Sugars continued as if we could hear him (don't the studio panel know we can't - it should have been aborted)
They must get a new Audio person and have someone responsible for testing that everything is working pre R1
Another interview audio failure - please stop embarrassing yourselves and do a test before crossing
and maybe it is just Jason Bonnington's voice but his audio is very ordinary compared to the Nikita and Rob (I still think it is middle positon/mic problem)
Yep, Dan is definitely pissed off with the audio problems at his end
Oh no they have gone to the winning driver again after R4 and once again NO AUDIO
Stop continuing with the interview as if we can hear the driver, I don't care if you are recording it and we will be able to catch a replay somewhere - we are your audience and it is plain offensive that you treat us with so little respect
Out watering for post R5 but have just heard R6 driver interview WITH audio!
Jason Bonnington seems to have been given the MC role on the panel at Bendigo tonight - a mistake as he talks too much and dominates
I was looking forward to tonight but I won't be able to take 4˝hrs of him
He is truly inappropriate as the MC as his winning driver interview proved ('smart arse' even in humour cannot be said), he needs a strong panel leader or producer to keep him under control (smaller doses)
Maybe HRV/TrotsVision is seeing him as the Robbo type (AFL 360) but Robbo is not constantly full on and has Gerard to keep him under control
Nikkita, Steve and Kirsten were excellent listening last night. Nikkita makes an excellent numero uno as she shares it around so very very well
Ballarat Cup draw special - no audio for the first couple of minutes.
TrotsVision has undoubtedly the worst paid audio technicians anywhere in the world
Nikkita, Gareth or Rob and a guest (plus Dan of course) - TrotsVision/HRV should lock them in for every metro meet
It would be remiss of me (after all my recent criticism of Visions audio) if I did not mention that the audio for all 3 on the panel tonight at Melton is clear and of equal volume no matter which way they turn their head. Yay :D
Following on from our pathetic treatment by Sky and the recent Hunter Cup coverage on Racing.com
I wonder whether we couldn't strike a deal with Ch7
I doubt they rate their 7Two and 7Mate channels as valuable an asset as what we might (as streaming has eroded the number of free to air viewers)
We could however experiment with whether we could get a following on one of these channels. The benefit to them is free content (we have the production means through TrotsVision)
The obvious would be their Racing.com but that is the gallops baby and make no mistake, many in the gallops world are still our enemies, so let's steer clear of them
We could commandeer Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday nights for Trots night on 7Mate
We cannot see NSW as the enemy so we could invite them to be part of it (or any other state except WA - time difference) to keep up the content.
Let's say you could conduct a 3 month trial and see if it has positive results
In the long run I am not sure that free to air is important as people tend to stream everything nowadays (especially under 40yo's) but it could be a worthwhile experiment
Some would say that we have to be where the punters are = TAB/Sky
I see it as running hand in hand with TrotsVision and TAB/Sky
I do however think that if the big/pro punters see us as their source of income they would punt on us regardless of our viewing platform
I know for a fact that some of the gallops form analysts/punters punt wherever they can be successful - things such as European Womens Volleyball etc, things that you are not going to see on Sky
Sounds like a good idea Kevin, the only issue I see is that Sky own the rights to the race vision and may not wish to lose viewers to free to air.
I am already wondering if a change of heart about going to Terang tonight might have been a mistake
TrotsVision breaking up badly - I think it is them as they put up the TrotsVision logo at one stage and I have good internet
Nikkita good as always and Josh Dickie has a future in the media if he ever wants to retire as a participant
Thank God for the advances in technology.
What with Vincent having his first Victorian winner last night, I thought I would revisit his performances. Sadly it is not until 2018 that our replays are of good enough quality to enjoy. You view Vincent's one failure/mishap in the 2017 Vic Derby and compare it to the 2018 replay - the improvement is incredible
We have got it so good nowadays. I remember when having Bell Lap and Finish photo form for Moonee Valley was considered fantastic
Perhaps the resolution of the videos have been minimised for storage purposes. Trouble is viewers can't optimise the resolution to watch replays, therefore the quality is the equivalent of an old Super 8 home movie. Another example as to why the HRA website desperately needs to be upgraded.
I note 4 of Vincent's 5 Australian starters have been fillies while last night's winner is a gelding. There is a very well bred Vincent filly debuting in race 3 at Addington NZ this afternoon named Tara Victory. Her dam is a SBSW half sister to Tiger Tara. Half the field is scratched so only three runners and her good trial form could give young Vin another winner. And I just watched his Vic Derby heat win again to remind me how so good he was!
Why is it that the audio can play up for TrotsVision but never Sky/TAB
Once again no audio for R2 at Stawell on Vision but it was fine on the TAB
