It was a huge crowd. Entry from 4pm. No entry after 7pm. Top NZ band playing after the last. Brilliant atmosphere and a buzz everywhere. The TAB Trot was the talk of the track all night. Far less interest in the pacers race. Well worth the tripQuote:

How do we explain Mach Shard getting up to win the Taylor mile from last (at $155)
1.53.9 doesn't seem that fast But it isn't like Oz - breaking 1.51 in NZ is super rare
The on pace runners did not break 29 for Q4 in a mile race (!) so Mach Shard did not have to break the clock to swamp them
Although the track was listed as good, the weather was showery so maybe the track way out wide where he finished was better going

IMO , LTF has it won .
Poor RNR , but in saying that I would not have driven him like that ,I would have raced for luck or come with one run.
