The conditions appeared alright on Sky channel but for such big finals the times seem slow

Less than an hour (5.52 AEST) until the Big NZ trot - tune in on TrotsVision
Unbelievable. Excellent work Greg , Jess , the team & of cause JUST BELIEVE. Amazing performance. ...........Brilliant.
Australia 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
I love seeing a crowd there - and I think this crowd is there for the harness racing!
Very happy to see Barry win rather than Mark
1000% agree.
Merlin the millionaire.........great win.
Great run Better Eclipse.
The problem the Candyman had was that he had to drive for luck
I generally leave Live Caption running on my desktop and the following came up before R1 and before they seemed to know they were on air
I don't know what to make of it
Sounds good Carol. I did not know about the band but am I still right in thinking that most were there for the harness
This morning PP has highlighted Maurice McKendry taking hold of his drive to stop it from winning R4 at Cambridge last night
He is on No.1 which ended up with the 1x1
It is so blatant that you cannot help but think NZ racing is stuffed if they allow this crap

How do we explain Mach Shard getting up to win the Taylor mile from last (at $155)
1.53.9 doesn't seem that fast But it isn't like Oz - breaking 1.51 in NZ is super rare
The on pace runners did not break 29 for Q4 in a mile race (!) so Mach Shard did not have to break the clock to swamp them
Although the track was listed as good, the weather was showery so maybe the track way out wide where he finished was better going

Kev,
have a closer look at the replay, MM never gave the horse a loose rein at any stage ( for a reason) and in the fraction of a second preceding him taking a bit of a hold the horse rolls in his hind end gait. In my humble opinion, McKendry did what he is known for doing, giving the horse every possible chance and hence the owners ( and punters) the best result possible.
Dan, I am just a mug fan, you have 1,000% more knowledge than me on these matters - if you can see see a reason for him taking a bit of a hold then I will accept that that is likely the case.
Mark Purdon plans a change of direction, relocating to Matamata in the near future and taking a step back from a memorable career as a full- time harness racing trainer.
Mark will remain a partner for the immediate future with son, Nathan, largely in an advisory role as consultant and supervisor of horses shifting north as necessary.

See ya.
The Rowe Cup this time - Just Believe wins easily

Well done Greg & Jess.
Double Group 1. Excellent.
You Just have to believe it can be done.
Yes, I have thought for a while that NZ may be in greater decline than us
Rock N Roll Doo and Dont Stop Dreaming returned to the track on Friday night
DSD's 3rd was much more impressive. RNRD did look like running last at one point so to find a little bit for 8th was at least something

After the Flying Stakes yesterday, NZers are suggesting they have the horse to beat Leap To Fame on Cup Day
Merlin will need a barrier advantage and a soft trip to have a chance against LTF
It is is looking like it might sadly be Rock N Roll Done on the the way he is going
https://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gws/ws/r/...rSite&Arg=TRUE
Just watched the replay.
IMO , LTF has it won .
Poor RNR , but in saying that I would not have driven him like that ,I would have raced for luck or come with one run.
Just my option.
NZ Cup Fields
In the Dominion Trot Just Believe drew 2
Catch A Wave is in a $40k FFA. Did they miss a start in the big one? A long way to go for this
The big one
Catch A Wave is better than some of these imo.
Wonder why he did not get a run in the cup. Not even an emergency.
Can someone from NZ harness explain as to why CAW is not in the cup.
Thanks Nathan - that makes sense
Ok. Thanks Nathan.
Hope he wins.
Big ask from Swayzee , Friday Young, Sunday flight, Tuesday NZ Cup , but with LTF out it will help.
NZ would be devastated at LTF's bloods ruling him out again
Love to know what is out??
What a great story. https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news/don-rae-...w-zealand-cup/

Raceday coverage of the entire meetings from Addington this Tuesday and Friday will be simulcast at TrotsVision.com.au.
That was very good coverage . I even watched 2 races.
Firstly congratulations to Jess & Greg & Just Believe & everyone associated with him. What a brilliant horse he is .
And I am still scratching my head about Swayzee. That was remarkable.
Congratulation to all.
Two favs get to the front. To win as they like. Too easy. Two miles can even be a procession
