2yo trotter Why Tanya Sue, a ¾ sister to wonderful juvenile Susan Is Her Name won on debut at AP yesterday, winning by 34m in quicker time and over a longer distance than Susan, so maybe the Wyborns have another exciting prospect on their hands

Not wanting to begrudge anyone their VSTA awards, I ask how is it that the best trotter in decades missed getting a gong?
And the team that brought us that horse (Team Larajay) got zip also. Were they ineligible?
To be eligible for our awards you must be a current financial member of the Victorian Square Trotters Association (VSTA)
It is very cheap so it is surprising if they are not

Gus's winning MR tonight was only 0.1 secs outside the Tk Rec
His dam is/was a fantastic producer - she is only 16yo but does not appear to have been bred from for the last 5yrs

2yo filly Gatesys Gem may prove to be a diamond
Her heat win yesterday was so much faster than any of the colts
She has now won 3/3
Her family A76 (Gill) is not a particularly strong one
Her closest connection to someone special is that her 5th dam is a full sister to Royal Dollar (1961) who won a SA and NSW Derby and went on to be a stallion (who was the leading colonial sire of 3yo winners in 1975 with 16 winners)
